takes a lot more courage to stand up for what you believe in.

Why does it take more courage to stand up and appease people then it does to kneel in front of a booing mob?

The players kneeling are also (not literally) standing up for what they believe in.

I respect the right of Zaha and the others who decided not to stand, but they don't have any more authority on the subject than someone who decides to kneel.

the kneeling is far more of an appeasement given it's still going on for a year as a ritual like the pre-match handshake, than an individual making more of an impact by going against the collective prescribed thought and standing up for what he believes in.

The kneeling very clearly isn't an appeasement if you've got a mob booing them every time they do it.

It's pretty transparent that you simply think Zaha is "enlightened" because he agrees with you.

They have said it's for equality since about 1 week into it.

Your "you cannot campaign for anything unless you are completely perfect and have never done anything wrong" line is a tactic people have been using to try and quash movement for racial equality since abolition was being debated.

People don't have to be absolutely faultless to ask to not be racially abused or discriminated against.
This is part of the problem. It's impossible to have a debate about this with people without deflecting from the point being raised.

Unless of course you have no problems with Asians working themselves to death for lower than minimum wage so football players can make millions on their Nike and Adidas sponsorship deals.

This has to do with picking and choosing an agenda based on what will increase and decrease their bank account.

It's either for equality or it's not. This isn't an equality buffet where you get to pick and choose what equality you support and what you ignore.

It's appeasing the people who would line the streets protesting about other matters using it as justification. It hasn't succeeded in driving any meaningful change and it's had a year to do so. Going to piss people off either way. I just think Zaha's made more headway being the one to take a different route. Kneeling won't change a jot, it's been happening a year and the real changes that are needed are not even close to implementation. All it does is give this lot another outlet, one that's safer and gets them even more publicity than trolling on Twitter.

You don't need to fight every single good cause in the world in order to take a stand on something. What you are doing is deliberately trying to raise the barrier to campaigning for something so high that no one can ever challenge anything.

It's a completely dishonest argument.

Oh yeah, what headway has Zaha made?

I do find it hillarious how people like you will say the kneeling has done nothing when we've got major national discourse on racism and protesting that's come about because of it. What's come about from standing? nothing.
