I blame the FA, and the whole set up. Until things change at the top, nothing will change on the pitch. Capello is a top class manager, but England don't have a huge pool of players at his disposal. Even the likes of Ferguson and Mourinho, would find real difficulty to turn this team into world beaters.

First it was Capellos fault, then it was FA, sorry but the England team is just terrible. You cant polish a turd.

If English players are crap (and atm one wouldn´t doubt it) then is it NOT the FA´s fault or are you saying that as sportsmen we are just innately inferior?
Try telling that to our cricketers!

Mike stop trying to bring up the ashes! haha

It´s simples really

Have a vision of how to play the game (not the traditional British way!)
Provide the funds and facilities
Get the coaches and fitness staff - the best available because our FA/PL CAN AFFORD IT!!
Have a timeframe
Get on with it unstintingly and do not be swayed of course by ANYONE -least of all THE FOOKIN PRESS
Watch it come to fruition

There!

Nearly brought up me lunch after watching that shower!

Seriously we CAN produce great players and a great team if the WILL is there at the top
There simply isn´t with the PL in the driving seat. The analogy is the NBA in the States. The national team fail regularly too

Not inferior sportsmen but generally inferior footballers, Southgate alluded to it after the game (was quite surprised to hear him say it TBH), I've said it for years, the English game places to much emphasis on pace and power rather thantechnique and guile.

So it´s the FA´s fault as I was alluding to

Although England do not have the players to compete with the very top nations they regularly beat the likes of Switzerland in regular season football.
In tournament football and in post season football they almost invariably look poor and those who play well are those who have had time off through injury during the season. Doesn't matter who the manager is the premier leagues demands kills Englands performances in post season matches.
Still the press will blame it on the manager as they always have no matter who the manager is.(They often big them up in the qualifying process which is during the season)

Trouble is its what a lot of fans want to see and its probably how they sell the tv product around the world so I dont see it changing.

The problem with English football, is we base it's health on a handful of games played a season by the national team....The FA might be getting everything right for the last 5 or 6 years and you STILL wouldn't see the full result of at full international level.
