England's problem

I'm still adamant that it's a problem with english football being dated as a whole. Youth players or experienced players, we'll still be shite. We still teach kids the same old shite from 50 years ago. Barcelona's academy seem to have kids passing forever on end and the only club in this country that seems to be determined to go down that route is ours.

England's youth teams are brilliant and regularly win tournaments or get to the final, we do have technical players look at Barkley, sterling, Sturridge, they are very technical. Roy Hodgson picked the right players IMO a mixture of youth and experience we just weren't good enough. Lts look at bringing more kids through now

We need to look at bringing more English players into the premier league, just like in Germany where they focus on bringing thought their own players. It's hugely
Y benefited the national team

"We just weren't good enough" though seems to be a clichéd don't you think? If we were good enough and a superpower like Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil etc. then surely we would be right up there with everyone else... but in reality, alot of us seem to struggle just to pick our best 11, because it's so distinctly average.

Personally, I think the likes of Barkley, Henderson, Sterling, Sturridge etc. will be exposed at champions league and international level and it won't be because of their ability... it'll be because the likes of Isco and Gotze got the better end of the deal, they were taught the better and more modern way to play football.

You're entitled to your opinion of course, but I disagree with it. I think Barkley will be lucky to be like Rooney, look great in England, but when it comes to the big stage, he'll be out of his depth.

More players need to have stints abroad, open up their eyes to different ways of playing - it's obvious that being in the pl frenetic goldfish bowl doesn't get young English players to that very top level. Can never understand why a player would pick an Everton over a Marseille type team.

There are plenty of players who haven't performed at the World Cup though look at messi he hasn't really showed what he can do for Argentina may hes starting to now. I thinks we have a really good set of young players coming through. Of course we aren't on a par with teams like Germany now, but only a few years ago they were on a downward spiral but they invested in youth and changed the way they look at youth, we need to do the same. I think only then we will start to see some world class English players again.

I wouldn't say it's average team, Cahill was one of Chelsea's best players, hart is a top keeper, strurridge one of the top scores, Henderson sterling and Gerard nearly won the league or helped to win the league for liverpool. Rooney scored and plays well for united. I wouldn't say it's average just not a great team. You dont need to be a great team though look at Costa Rica, or Columbia or Australia all played great, we have better players than them but we seem to freeze at tournaments.

Andros Townshend just saying that England do have world class players.

Jesus Christ, these people really do believe this don't they?

This is the problem media thinking Rooney and Gerrard are world class when they are just good players

Hart of the matter said:
The protection our 'top' players get afforded by our referees and media in domestic competitions leads to them looking better than they are and having to lose some edge when playing in matches where referees don't bow down to them. We do not see the like of Rooney continually abusing refs in internationals like he does in the prem. i wonder why?
. This is the one, I've been saying this for the past ten years

The old first division was full of English players until the premiership money came.all we actually achieved was a win on home soil.

The 'establishment' are in denial .Greg Dyke is an utter plonker as are the FA and will doom England to further failure.
. Dyke is probably the worse guy you could have in charge, I can never understand what he is trying to say or express, he always answers with an half excuse or a question
