England's problem

It won't happen, of course, for a whole host of economic and political reasons, but the only workable solution is the disbanding of the FA as an organisation.

Their right to run the domestic game arises out of historical circumstance rather than any sense of merit or legal entitlement to administer English football. Again and again, disappointment in our national team's performance in an International Tournament is met with calls to change the fabric of the FA, without any apparent realisation that it is the organisation itself which is the root of much of the problems. The patient cannon be cured. The life support machine should be turned off. Their assets should be seized and handed over to a body with the genuine interests of the national game and its supporters at heart.

As I said, it won't happen, but that would provide the best opportunity for the game to fulfill its potential in this country.

The defence was the weak point. To bring so many injured players or players carrying knocks was mad. Centre back was always a concern. Terry love him or hate him he should of been called up him and Cahill have been solid for Chelsea.

The Liverpool connection Henderson and Gerrard have been found out during the tournament add into the mix Welbeck and to a lesser extent Rooney in a wide position was strange and wrong.

A injury to Chamberlain and Walcott has cost England a natural attacking from both sides of the pitch. Think some of the central players be gutted having watched those 2 games not to have got a run in the team. Not too sure he will stay at the end of it all. Think if they can get Harry in from QPR he could get the best out of everyone involved.

Is Hodgson blaming top clubs not giving "young players" a chance??? The reason they played shite this World cup is because he's too much of a pussy to play our in form players. Welbeck starting both games is just an embarrassment and a joke when you have Wilshere, Lallana, Barkeley etc. and even Milner for god's sake, all on the bench twiddling their thumbs. All those players ended their domestic season in form, yet they can't get an England game for love nor money.

Everyone has been saying a lot has changed in the team this WC, but it really hasn't. Same old players, same old shit.

The main problem as I see it is that the English game is not played like World Cup football. Technique is at a premium in the WC. That is why some lesser teams are doing well, The players can keep the ball. Many of these guys would get nowhere near the PL, as they lack the physicality required for a long season played at high tempo.

Gerrard is a case in point. His game is as far away from the sophisticated style of Iniesta, Xavi, Pirlo as it is possible to be. Yet as a premier league player you'd choose him over these guys. Would Xavi hack it in the PL? Not sure.

The answer may be naive. Why don't we play only the technically gifted players. Lallana being one that springs to mind. This is specially true of the defenders. They need to be able to play.

It is no surprise that Gazza is the only midfielder we have had in the last twenty years that looked totally at ease in the World Cup environment. Lampard, Beckham and Gerrard, sorry. The first is a great goalscorer, the second was a great crosser and Gerrard is a great all round midfielder in the english style. But with all of them the first instinct is to play the long hollywood ball.

Another thing we don't take into account is that foreign players are actually probably better than we give them credit for. Foreign players come to the Premiership and play a different style of football in a different country, speaking a different language. Of course you get some players that just fit perfectly into a foreign style of play even more than their own, but usually that's not the case. When the players get back home, hear team talks in their own language, are surrounded with their own countrymen and more importantly play a style of football they grew up with then they perform better.

Good point.

Team tomorrow

Foster, Jones, Cahill, Smalling, Shaw, Milner, Lampard, Wilshere, Barkley, Lallana, Sturridge

a couple of changes to that and that should have been the side for the last game

The following will happen to these players...

Luke Shaw: will stay at Southampton then he will get his dream move to his boyhood club Chelsea, Mourinho will turn him into another Wayne Bridge.

Ross Barkley: again can see him ending up at Chelsea and Mourinho will do what he does best with English talent and ruin them. You will find him on the left wing and he will end up ruined like Joe Cole

Jack Wilshere: wasted talent already, he will be the one whos always in the papers for drugs, affairs and god knos what.

John Stones: will be just a standard Everton player, good but not great.

Chris Smalling: will go down as a faded footballed, will end up at Villa or Sunderland.

Jordan Henderson: will be a very average player who doesnt offer anything, the media will brainwash you into thinking he's a reincarnation of Gerrard.

James Ward-Prowse: he will actually be a very good player but always over looked for Henderson and Wilshere.

Connor Wickham: will have a few good seasons at Sunderland, will end up at (you guessed it) Chelsea and will be 3rd choice behind a South American superstar and some flop.

Nick Powell: he will score a 30 yard screamer against Walsall in the league cup, will be dubbed the next Best/Pele/Maradona/Jesus. Will end up at Everton as Barkleys not so good replacement.

Will Hughes: Liverpool will spend £25m on him and he will be shite.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain/Raheem Sterling: will be very good players and probably look back at their international careers with alot of regret, like some of the past greats.

Alan Pardew: he will eventually get the England job, story writes itself.

Gareth Bale/Aaron Ramsey: will always be blamed for not being English.

Analyse:

While Holland, Germany and Spain dominate European football, England will be the same old story. United and Arsenal will produce average players dubbed this and that, Liverpool will over spend on shit, Everton and Southampton will be robbed of their products and they will be robbed of their talent. The Welsh will be constantly blamed for not being English and last but not least, managers who are obvioulsy not good enough will be candidates for the hot seat.
