England's problem

If you were a club manager and were weighing up how to account for wages, would you rather pay £300k a week for a total dick on and off the pitch, who has proven to be a liability apart from one cross and one tap in? Or 2 or 3 technically gifted, well schooled foreigners?

England's main problem is that the FA has taken the insular, island race mentality several steps too far.
Paddy V points out a few problems, Pearce adds his opinion, Rafa makes valid points, and various successful foreign coaches have also contributed, but the only ones that will be acted on are those proposed by a generally brain-dead commission comprising wastes of space such as Dyke, Danny bloody Mills, Rio shit-for-brains, and several others who have no in-depth knowledge of how the game is played or developed in other countries.
The FA will stick to doing what it knows - nothing of any substance.

I posted a couple of days that I wouldn't put it past Stevie Overrated to try and carry on. Looks like he is.

The ironic thing is that the home grown rule could actually be working against the England team

Sad as well, because the manager is going to carry on picking him believing his experience will help. What is the point of playing him in mind numbing friendlies when he should be introducing players like Barkley at the very least and planning ahead.

Him and Rooney think their saying the right things by stating that they will carry on playing until they are no longer required, but the truth behind it is that Hodgson will keep picking them cause he's a spineless twat which then prevents us bringing through younger players who have a future with England, it's basically just a vicious circle that has no signs of ending.

I'm lucky in so much as I no longer really care too much about international football.

There are so few meaningful matches per year.

Okay I love watching football so the World Cup is great, but these days I worry when a City star gets a hard tackle! It happens in so many matches.

I have no desire what so ever in England winning twice yearly tournaments if it means the Premier League has to weaken it's top clubs by restricting the number of foreign players.

When I go to see a film I don't care what nationality the actors are... I just want to watch a well made film that entertains me.

I reckon England has more "quality" footballers to pick a squad from that Costa Rica.

They seem to be doing ok.

England, relying on 5 Scousers and Rooney?

Great plan.

Just seen on Sky that Lampard captains the side on Tuesday instead of Gerrard.

If there was still anyone out there that was struggling to see what is so wrong with England as a set up then this decision surely shows them!

The FA and Roy are fucking stupid!

What's so wrong? Lampard's vice captain, you knew that didn't you..?
Roy'll likely give everyone a game who hasnt started one yet, to an extent, and so he should- there's nothing riding on it.
Playing Lampard in this game shows Hodgson and the FA up as the clueless idiots they undoubtedly are. He has already left the Premier League and will 100% be calling time on his international career after this game. So why play him when other players would get much more benefit from the experience? The only possible reason is sentimentality, and that should have no place whatsoever at a World Cup. The fact that there's nothing riding on it makes it even more ludicrous to play a 36 year old semi-retired squad filler in this game.
