England's problem

People can blame Hodgson all they like but the uncomfortable truth is that their isn't one world class player available for him to pick.
The standard of this squad is very poor and the problems go far deeper than just who's the Manager.

At every tournament the media focus is always on Rooney, if i were a player in the squad i would be miffed that one very average player gets all the attention and praise.

Well another thing is for all the were shit talk, Uruguay were lucky to have 10 men after Godins cynical foul on Sturridge. Sometimes it is as basic as that. We see time and time again games are decided by the refs as much as anything.
Really? It was the ref's fault?
Fair enough Godwin probably should have gone but he didn't. Boohoo, get over it, get on with it, get even.
England didn't have a midfield - and you can't win a game without one. Hodgson & the media have spent twelve months urging us to believe that Gerrard is now Pirlo and that Henderson is something more than the new Scotty Parker. Hodgson sends teams out to maintain two banks of four, at all times and at all costs. The Liverpool duo duly obliged, to the extent that they refused to break ranks and tackle the player on front of them. Leighton Baines took his orders so literally that he stayed 'tucked in', rather than mark an Italian on the wing. Rooney got the blame for the second Italian goal, when it was clearly Baines fault. Baines never bothered tracking back last night and Suarez had a freeheader as a result. Sterling was clearly at nothing last night, trying to create his own personal Maradonna moment. He's young but he'll never learn if he's allowed/ encouraged to pursue the same madness for 70 minutes a game. Only God knows what Wellbeck does to warrant selection. He, like Henderson, is typical of dozens of English players whose effort grossly outweighs their nous. And they're complimented for it!
The ref made a mistake alright but the game was lost before the first ball was kicked.

Argentina have world class players but have won nothing for years. It's a team sport. Greece won the euro's with no world class players.

Wrong squad selection, simple as that. Too many players past it/never had it.

Johnson
Rooney
Gerrard
Jagelka
Henderson

And most of all fucking hodgson.

This is so true.

England suffered like Liverpool before them trying to accommodate an ageing Gerrard in a role he is plainly not suited to. Defence was exposed last night and Saturday by not closing down effectively on the edge of the box and further up the field.

You don't think it would of effected the game? Godin is their best defender and they would have probably had to sub cavanni or Suarez to bring on a defender.

Of course it's a team sport but it isn't Hodgson's fault he's got a shower of shit to pick from, people are now wising up to the fact that England just don't have the players anymore.

Hart - Best of a bad bunch.
Baines - Not international class.
Jagielka - Poor.
Cahill - From the John Terry school of defending, spends most of his time lunging in or sitting on his arse.
Johnson - Appalling player.
Henderson - Not good enough.
Gerrard - Finished.
Sterling - Might turn into a good player but who know's ?
Wellbeck - Have no idea what he brings to the side.
Rooney - Never became the player he could have been.
Sturridge - Flat track bully.
Lallana - Haven't a clue why he's raved about.
Barkley - This kid could be very special.
Lambert - Oh dear

Have to agree about Hodgson. Would have been a great England Team Manager 50 years ago but he is old school and has not progressed with the pace of football development.

He´s had the chance to drop players (we all know who) but he´s bottled it and the sucking up to scousepool and scum players tells you how much of a "yes" man he is. He could have done more tactically as well. With so much pace why didn´t he set up more to counter attack especially in the first two games?

Bottom line is that we should just scrap the national team as nobody gives a hoot, least of all the FA who have always wanted the PL to take precedence, turning it into some NFL/NBA version of the world club championship. We are simply making up the numbers when it comes to international tournaments
