English are 'anti-semitic'

I'm confused; Peres appears to call the English 'anti-semitic' and then spends the entire interview talking about how we are actually anti-Israel.
And, for what it's worth, he's wrong on both counts.

Its bollocks. English are far more anti-Islam (as some posts have stated) than anti-semitic (or anti-jew). Even the holocaust-denying BNP have had to quieten down their anti-semitism in order to attract more supporters.
Compare attacks on synagogues with attacks on mosques? Members of the EDL were arrested the other day for plotting to blow up a mosque in Bournemouth! I mean both actions are deplorable but he seems to misunderstand the sentiment in england at the moment. To say we're more anti-semitic than Germany - who have much larger more mainstream neo-nazi parties, is just false.
Again it seems another case of anti-israel=anti-semitism bollocks. As Israel makes it more and more difficult to justify the house demolitions, state terrorism, displacement, making the WB and Gaza into a zoo, the reduction in democratic rights - they are appealing to emotive support for Judaism and in turn conflating Judaism with the actions of the Israeli government. Conversely the most active opponents of the governments actions are Jews and Israelis!
Whilst our governments have been extremely supportive of Israeli governments- we sell them weapons, give them aid, allow them to forge our passports, don't bat an eyelid when they use our weapons and aid to callously slaughter and displace thousands of christian and muslim arabs - which in turn radicalises some British people and hurts British communities.

Working in London i do notice a fair bit of anti-semitism but then i also encounter racists, biggots, sexists, and a fair share of anti-british people. As for that bloke though i would say the feeling in this country is not pro arab, it would be more pro polish.

There is a traditional view among British Jews that the Foreign Office and Tory Party particularly were pro-Arab and anti-semitic respectively. As someone pointed out earlier in the thread, the Speaker is a Tory & Jewish (though disliked b many of his party) and things certainly started to change under Thatcher, who represented a constituency with a large Jewish population and was probably more in tune with the Jewish approach to community and society than the Christian one.
I think it was Harold Macmillan who famously said her cabinet was more old Estonian than Old Etonian which (whether it was meant tobe a lighthearted remark or not) went to prove the point of how far the Tories had shifted. And as far as the Foreign Office is concerned, under the Brown government the Foreign Secretary and one of his ministers were pro-Israeli Jews. Plus whatever happened on the surface over the passport affair, Mossad is MI6's closest working ally.

Being anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish (Jews are not the only semites) are completely separate things. I'm not convinced Britain is either of those things even though I think it ought to be anti-Israeli.

Because of Americas love for Israel and the fact that we blindly follow them in most international policies i am not really suprised that we are being touted as Jew haters. Don't forget we also hate the Arabs. Oh...and all Muslims.

How could we be called Jew haters if we blindly follow America who has its fair share of jews and support Israel which is now the Jewish homeland.
