Enzo Fernandez

It would be both.
I will like this club a lot less if we bring in a known racist. Tbh i am not sure I could even support the club anymore. What a slap in the face to every African fan of city and to be honest, every immigrant fan of city as well. Shame on the club.

Don't think we are interested in him.

Bert Trautmann was a brown shirt at one time. There is no racist gene. Hate racism, not the casual racist.

Disappointed if City are looking at this guy. I would have thought people realise that City are a perfect case in point that you can target the right sort of personalities rather than just focusing on ability and still be successful. In fact I would argue that recruiting these types of genuinely good characters has been a major contributing factor to the club's sustained success over Pep's tenure.

The club's insistence of signing the right type of people has ensured a tight-knit group of players that pull together for each other, cause very little disruption, and have the humble attitude combined with confidence in their own ability to challenge for silverware year after year, after year. The ones that don't fit that ideal tend not to last too long (Cancelo, Sterling when he saw his arse after being dropped).

Comparing Fernandez to Bernardo character-wise just because they both have a bit of tenacity to them is ridiculous. Bernardo's shithousery was always hugely overstated IMO, only really Liverpool supporters can have a reasonable excuse for their dislike of him, for most other supporters he was simply a very good opponent who never gave their teams a moments peace. Off the field it's pretty clear Bernardo is simply one of the nicest people, whereas Fernandez has shown signs of being a disruptive, unsavoury individual, the sort of player who should be left for the rags to blow huge money on. With Txiki and Pep still in charge I don't think interest in this guy would have gone beyond an initial scouting stage and for me, that should be enough of a red flag. Definite no for me.
well said

Enzo Fernández posted a live video on Instagram showing himself and his national teammates singing on a bus following their Copa América victory.

The song takes aim at France's multicultural squad, particularly singling out players of African descent, and includes lyrics that translate roughly to:
  • "They play for France, but their parents are from Angola."
  • "Their mother is from Cameroon, while their father is from Nigeria."
  • "But their passport says French.

To each their own. This sounds more like a dig at France to me. While i personally disagree with the sentiment, a lot of Africans I know sorta agree with it... They think France is robbing lots of African teams of talent that could be representing them.

Lots of Africans even joke that France is Africa's national team. Others take a much more negative and corrosive view by claiming France continues to colonize Africa by using Africa's human resources to France's advantage.

I think the whole anti-France narrative is stupid. French players should be able to play for France without anyone moaning about it regardless of what their parental heritage is.. Seeing as the corollary is worse. I mean, imagine a scenario where France only allows players of European descent to play for France. We'd all be here killing France for being the most racist Country ever. We cant have it both ways. That said, i get what the Argentineans are hinting at... What they are saying is that France is cheating ( or has an undue advantage ) by having a global pool of talent compared to other nations.

Anyway, this to me is more anti- French banter by Argentine players. Sure one can infer some nativists undertones from it. But Im not sure labelling the guy who shared the video a racist is correct. As that blurs all nuance.

Had no idea about the racism incident; wouldn't exactly be fair on our players of African descent were we to bring him in, would it? Hope we go nowhere near the **** now.

Not exactly a racist song really is it.
If anything it is telling the truth.

If that's racism then we're walking around on eggshells.

Not saying I'm disagreeing with your feelings, each to their own.

I'd love him here as a sidenote, he'd get right under the opposition's skin plus if he's a decent footballer, imho of course.

If you told me he was available for 40m, I would probably shrug my shoulder and say I just don't really rate him all the highly. for 120m i'd love in your face.

If you want, you can shame the club if he is brought in.
Pointless shaming the club until we do though.

I didn't realize the depths he'd sunk. He should be brought up on charges.

I just don't want him because he seems a bit of a knob, proved he is an ignorant twat and also isn't any better than what we have

Hardly a "racist" song, it would be funny if French team had a bunch of guys with Irish last names too. Hate myself for agreeing with Dax on anything but here we are.

That said not bothered by getting Enzo or not, we definitely need a midfield makeover but there are other players.

How is it not racism? Why is it only the black players' ethnicity being brought up when there are white players who are not ethnically french? Griezmann's parents are of German and Portuguese descent, but they didn't sing about him. Not to mention those players were all raised in France, they are french, their ethnicity doesn't matter.
