Enzo Maresca

There are quite a few reports that say that as part of his mutual termination agreement, Chelsea retained the right to financial compensation from his next club (any club, not just City), given he still had 3.5 years left.

Why he would have agreed to that, who knows. Maybe he wanted out so bad, maybe his payout hinged on it. Maybe he thought or knew our club would pay it, having approached him knowing the length of his contract left.

It has been reported for some time, and at the very least he would have known about it. So wouldn't have come as a surprise to the club. It may even be possible it is our club that has found a loophole, and this isn't a case of chelsea delaying it. Who knows.

What's clear is (from Khaldoon's interview of nothing else, never mind the reports) that they are comfortable with it, it has been a long time coming, and will happen when it needs to.

Reminder, this time 10 and 13 years ago, we were still 3 weeks away from appointing Pep and 1 week away from appointing Pellegrini at this point in the summer. I don't remember people asking what's taking so long.
That will be the cut that Chelsea will have to pay for the 115 PL bill

I don't know why he doesn't just wait anyway because sure as night follows day Chelsea managers just get the boot and he'll get a nice pay off too.

he needs a big extra name in his staff with former City link & Italian.
Mario Balotelli step forward. he will train Haaland on more workrate and also provide youth players some advices and teach them how to throw 180...
Should give him a job in the academy. He can give them future life skills like walking around Moss Side with a wallet full of cash.

Yep

The speculation about the deal he had with Chelsea would be the case, but we don't know how it was terminated or if they had a clause about whether the Manchester City job would be offered to him.

But as I said, the compensation should not be taking so long to sort out because if City was after a manager still in a job, we would have paid up straight away.

Maybe Chelsea wants a clause about their players not going to City if we want any of them ? But again, you can not stop a player from moving because of the freedom of contract rules
Whatever, for once Chelsea seemed to have got us by the short & curlies. They snap up 'Alonso', whilst we appear to be floundering about with 'Maresca' & his staff & compensation.

Taking my blue tinted specs off, it does feel like, that Pep told us in December he was leaving and then we tapped up Maresca telling him Peps leaving so do you want the job.
