Aft many months I eventually got in for an epidural fro a slipped disc last week, I’d also been reducing my pain killers as they were making me feel ill. It’s now 6 days and I’ve seen no improvement in fact I had it on Wednesday and had to put on a pain patch on the Saturday as I seemed to have regressed 5 months to when I first started with pain. Has anyone had one and when/if did it seem to work? Google say you should know within 2-3 days and the surgeon don’t really commit just saying they work in upto 70% of people!

I have had several over the years and they don’t always work like you say. The doctor said that the main thing they do is ease the pain to allow the muscles to build up again and thus strengthening the back. If I remember correctly I had four or five of them before getting the benefit

Back injection may have an effect after first time, after 2 times or more, or may not have any effect. Whatever they try to say, bottomline no one really knows why. Same as surgery, may work and may not, and no one relay knows why. But unlike surgery that may take a couple of years before having an effect, injection should have a quicker effect, if there is going to be any.

I hope your injection works, but if didn’t, I would suggest you ask your doc if you could have it again (if you don’t mind having it again). If at the end it works, it will make a huge difference to live without back pain. Good luck.

To be fair after the fourth injection I haven’t had any trouble since barring the odd tweak which can happen to anyone. All the best and hope you get the same result

How's the back now?
Did you request this treatment from the docs or did they sort it ?
I'm back on the tramadol due to disc problems in my lower back and was going to go down the epidural route hoping it will shift some of the pain.

I’ve had some crazy months of my life completely destroyed by back pain, I see more in the future. Everyday pain free is an amazing thing
