I’d keep him all year just To spite them both. It’s on principle now so fuck them, end of year and he can be rusting up in the reserves
This is a difficult situation. I do not think many blues want him to stay knowing that he would rather be elsewhere and will be leaving at the end of the season. Any mistakes he makes will be jumped upon and his game could suffer massively.
Barcelona just need to offer a sensible fee, he can leave and everyone can move on. Maybe we should be offering him to other Spanish clubs and make it clear to him that if a decent offer comes in he either leaves or goes back to the EDS for the year - if that happened then Barce may not offer him the contract that they would now as he would no longer be a first team player.
This is the most arrogant club on the continent we are talking about. Why do Barca think Garcia is worth less than Torres, when they are in pretty much the same situation? Around the same age bracket, both just made international debuts, in last year of their contracts except one plays for a tier 1 team and the other for a team that's been struggling. Oh i forgot, it's Barca.
Id obviously make them sweat and push for a better deal than that but I’d take the money. We’re losing him for free in 12 months time, if he was a valuable member of the squad it would be worth losing him in 2 months but he’s not, he’s a kid that was elevated to a position way above his current ability on the idea he stays long term and improves significantly, judging him on his current ability alone, I’d sooner have any of Stones, Otamendi and Fernandinho. Let him go now add the fee to the Koulibaly deal and get that pushed over the line.
Not at all, it would be what a well run football club does.It would look incredibly weak if we come to the table and negotiate for Garcia when they refused to do the same with Messi.

Txiki isn't going to sit there with his fingers in his ears screaming "I CANT HEAR YOU" like Bartomeu clearly did when Messi asked to leave.
Garcia needs to be sold, both to get us some cash in and also because if he stays then Pep might actually try and play him which is not to the benefit of the team (IMO)
Oh i think there are a few competitors about for that title, mate! This is the most arrogant club on the continent we are talking about.

I’m not hugely bothered either way but it’s not like the lad has poisoned the tea lady and waved farts in Pep’s direction. He said he’s not renewing, which is understandable given the pull of his old club. It’s not a hanging offence and he appears happy enough to stay another season.
As for playing against Lyon, one of the manager‘s main jobs is to understand his players. It may look different from outside but, if Pep was convinced Garcia was in the right frame of mind, that’s OK with me.
Whether he gets much game time remains to be seen.
