Eric Garcia to Barcelona

It would look incredibly weak if we come to the table and negotiate for Garcia when they refused to do the same with Messi.
Not at all, it would be what a well run football club does.

Txiki isn't going to sit there with his fingers in his ears screaming "I CANT HEAR YOU" like Bartomeu clearly did when Messi asked to leave.

Garcia needs to be sold, both to get us some cash in and also because if he stays then Pep might actually try and play him which is not to the benefit of the team (IMO)

This. But Bartomeu hasn't done himself any favours with regards to getting Garcia on the cheap so if he thinks he can low ball us he can, in the oft-used words recently, 'do one'.

I’m not hugely bothered either way but it’s not like the lad has poisoned the tea lady and waved farts in Pep’s direction. He said he’s not renewing, which is understandable given the pull of his old club. It’s not a hanging offence and he appears happy enough to stay another season.

As for playing against Lyon, one of the manager‘s main jobs is to understand his players. It may look different from outside but, if Pep was convinced Garcia was in the right frame of mind, that’s OK with me.

Whether he gets much game time remains to be seen.

I think we obviously need to get more than the €10m that’s been floating around, but keeping on to a player that has actively said he wants to leave and can sign elsewhere for free in January is just stupid and will be disruptive, regardless of whether the club are proving a point.

The club agreed a €18m fee for Angelino for goodness sake - demanding €30m for a player that’s only just broke into the team and has 1 year left on his contract just doesn’t make any sense to me.

£15m and we should be shipping him off. I don’t think we’ll see any outgoings until we have signed Koulibaly, but as soon as that has been finalised he should be the first person out of the door.

Keeping him around as a 5th choice when we know he’s actively leaving would just be a kick in the teeth to someone like Harwood-Bellis.

He seems happy enough to stay another season because City will get fuck all and Garcia will get more because he`s stiffed us.

I can understand the pull of Barca for a Catalan. But, why would we want to play someone and give him game time and experience just so he can go skipping off into the sunset with money that could go towards a player for us fans to watch.

One of our problems is our opening fixture back 4 is anybody's guess.

You'd think Laporte and Walker are pencilled in. The other centre back may be Garcia or Stones or Ake. The LB, Cancelo, Mendy, Zinchenko or Ake.

So unlike most successful teams we don't really have a settled defence!
