Eric Garcia to Barcelona

I think the Barca link is strongest with Ajax players owing to similar playing philosophy (There are so many to have played for Barca and will continue to draw interest - Dutch fans will concur, Barca is a huge draw for young players) but no question for the biggest stars going abroad to bigger clubs/leagues was a dream beyond reaching Ajax 1st team. Bergkamp was counseled not to go to RM for example by Cruyff instead prioritizing Serie A as he saw it as a better overall league than Eredivisie before ultimating reaching his peak with Arsenal

That’s true but many players who have played for both were not necessarily Ajax products but people going there as a stepping stone in their careers. The Cruyff connection and the attraction of living on the Med and playing with Messi have been critical in the last twenty years, but things change. As you say, in the 1990s the allure of the Rossonerri/Nerazzurri was greater than elsewhere for Dutch players, and I’m under no illusion that patterns will shift once more. Neither your club nor ours can afford to think otherwise.

Edu works for MD which is part of Group Godo and effectively mouthpiece for the board

So thats a yes then. Barca board are acting without any class and integrity - and you wonder why opposing fans have no respect for clubs like yourselves, Bayern etc.

There is a way of doing business and whatever value or desire you put on the player, you keep it between the clubs and do it professionally. Seems Barca board cant do that - maybe the lack of professionalism is why you are in such a mess

Absolutely it can change and even the Cruyff model for La Masia has been around only since the late 70s

But for local Catalan kids who come through the academy, the dream will unquestionably be to flourish in the 1st team and that will be the pinnacle for them

Not what I answered but I do not disagree with the conclusion regarding this board - they are classless corporate clowns. It's also why I am certain Pep will never return while him or Rosell are running things. I do not, however, believe the club has done anything inappropriate with respect to Garcia thus far

Those "clowns" represent your club - it makes Barca as a club look very very bad

Pep has other projects on his mind

He has already mentioned coaching at international level for starters.

Im sure he will also want to prove himself in Italy (the links to Milan over the last 12 months are not just out of nowhere). Maybe one day he will return to Barca - but maybe not

I'm aware they represent/'lead' the club, that's what happens in elections - sometimes you get a great leader like Laporta and sometimes, regrettably, crooks like Rosell & Bartomeu or even Trump

I doubt Italy will be in the cards for him and already know about him potentially coaching a NT but he himself has already acknowledged he will eventually return to coach at the club at youth levels - personally, I'd like to see him head up La Masia

Pep will want to complete the top 5 leagues & achieve something at International level. Don't see him going back to Barca in any capacity for a long time yet, if ever

You must view Pep as a liar then since last year he said 'I will return to Barcelona sooner or later'
