Eric Garcia to Barcelona

We won't ever really know what Barcelona offered, but at the enf of the day, whatever it is, the club didn't think it appropriate. Heck even if it was all of the money asked for up front, and no sell on that the club wanted, i still support them for turning it down.

And accirding to reports, it was nowhere near, it was 50% of what we wanted.

This one is all on Barcelona. City named a price months ago, and didn't accept anything less. Barcelona are the ones that wasted the summer lowballing and pounding their chests, and ended up with nothing, other than sore chests. Could have had him if they wanted him.

Im so so glad the club stood firm. It isn't spite. When we take less than market value for players we respect, to get their desired move through to lesser clubs (edin, tosin, angelino), i respect that too, i find it as admirable as i do naive. But when the big clubs act out to put us at a competitive disadvantage and save themselves money, im all for the club showing some balls.

As for what happens next, sure, Barcelona can have him in January. If they pay say 10m (that they offered yesterday). That seems a fair drop for halfway through the season. Or he can sign a pre contract and they can have him for free in june, plus whatever the tribunal sets.

As for garcia, really don't care. He is contracted to the club, if they want to loan him out, have him train with eds, or feature in CL (not that i want that) then that is what he should do. Personally, i don't want him playing, but if he is deemed needed, i trust he will be professional about it.

I really am glad of the stances we took this summer. with garcia, And koulibaly. Should make future transfer negotiations a bit more considerate.

If that were the order of events but it was not - at time of making his interest known to return in June his value was below €16M, a value that depreciates in an expiring contract each day and increasingly so when there’s only 1 possible buyer

I’d like to see where Garcia has not been quiet

He stated he wouldn't sign a new contract on Spain International duty.

Where are you getting the €16m valuation from?

At 16m, worth keeping him and letting him go for free next year. Having a club trained player as a reserve that fills a quota, a d can step in a d play in meaningful games as well as cup runs is worth more than 16m.

Pissing Barcelona politicians off itself is worth about 10m, who only want to sign him to get votes.

A lot can happen in a year, barcelona are a total fucking mess, on a downward spiral. They will sign players that will keep him out of the team (regarless of this year or next). He may well commit, or may go elsewhere for game time when it clivks he won't get any there.

That was 2 months ago. And i still believe that now. As i say, glad the club stood firm.

Smugly stating during the Spain press conference that he isn't going to renew at city. Sane was a similar situation, we all knew he wanted bayern, but did we ever hear anything from Sane?

No. My respect for Sane has increased , we got a very good fee considering his final year and the pandemic.

This is one of the main reasons why you will see many on here, not happy with Garcia.

I really hope Pep doesn't pick him for the match day squad unless we have injuries.

Who the fuck is deciding this 16 million value? Stop throwing this figure around !

As long as we keep taking La Masia youngsters for tiny fees, Barca will try and get them back (the ones they want) for tiny fees too.

I'm glad we've stood firm and they lose out on a season of him.

Let him train with the U23s now and make sure he doesn't play for the first team.

Although with his pace he may as well start thinking about setting off to Spain now. He might still make it for July.
