Eric Garcia to Barcelona

I think sometimes we worry to much about fees, when the club have a business policy. Whatever we got last minute for Tosin doesn't bother me, 2mill or 10mill is not of concern. We manage to get a move for a player basically untried at this level, to another premier league club, which I think is great for him.

Garcia, well quite rightly fcuk Barca, if we took the 8mill plus add-ons, most on here would be moaning, let him and them wait another year, a few million means nothing to City. I'm glad we didn't bow down to them, after what they did to Messi.

The fee wasn't important the fact we won't be bullied by the likes of Barca is worth more then 15 mil which was probably 10 odd million of unlikely add ons. I'm proud of the board fair play.
I could not agree more. This had everything to do with the cartel FFP conspiracy and nothing to do with Garcia. City were simply not going to be bullied by Barca, who thought they could offer us buttons. Get him out on loan now to the Championship for a year. As for Tosin, if he makes the grade this season in the Prem, we will be getting a hefty sell on fee next summer or the year after.

Would rather have the money in the bank.

We now have 2 unhappy CB at the club.

Garcia wanted out and Stones who the club were happy to leave to go to Spurs on loan.

No tears from me. Fuck him and fuck Barca;
His contract is complete so we lose nothing in actual money.
My only hope is that a youngster gets the place he’d occupy because we shouldn’t be developing this guy any further.

Ridiculous that Barca rate him so highly, he’s the future of their defene and yet they won’t even meet our valuation and will only go close with a low initial plus a fuck tonne of add-ons? What a piss take!

21M swing for City, per-contract in Jan and free in June. Player arrived for a pittance as a 16 yr old 3 years ago when more than 10 fold profit was dismissed. Won’t be admitted publicly but clear Messi saga played into this

Todibo was loaned out in the end however which is consistent with the poor sports planning of Bartomeu. Oriol Busquets to provide depth in central defense

Let’s see how his remaining months at City go as player unlikely to be happy about the intransigence or being a victim of political gamesmanship. Of course, Eric also knows returning is never easy once you leave via back door

But his return is assured as his fee

Never want to see this slow fucker in out first team till he fucks off for free.

But good on city refusing to buckle to barca

Personally I would have preferred £18 million in the bank and an unhappy player gone from the club rather than "getting one over on Barcelona" but that's just me.

So would I, all day.

they offered 10 though.

I'm not sure I agree on the idea that it's pettiness. The way I see it, City (apparently) set a value of €20m. Garcia publicly stated that he would not sign a new contract, affecting the negotiation by reducing his value. This public statement was a naive mistake in my opinion. He has backed City into a corner whereby if they accept a lower offer it will encourage other clubs to tap up players and get them to publicly state they want to leave. If he had stayed quiet like Sane I think he'd be a Barcelona player already. Instead of a transaction he has made it a battle over general principles.

If that were the order of events but it was not - at time of making his interest known to return in June his value was below €16M, a value that depreciates in an expiring contract each day and increasingly so when there’s only 1 possible buyer

I’d like to see where Garcia has not been quiet

Will we not get a development fee due to his age?

I don’t know but 1) we took him from Barca in the first place and 2) aren’t those fees usually very low? He’s only been here 3 years so not sure how a tribunal would arrive at a figure between 10–18mil

Not worth negotiating for any players then, is there? I am sure Bayern probably offered us a lot less for Sane initially than what was accepted. With regards to how City use him now, that will be interesting, I dotn think it's going to be as straight forward as it has been.

Of course there is a point in negotiations but the point of talking is arriving at a mutually beneficial deal our your position being less bad than at the start.

Our position it much worse than at the opening of negotiations as far as I can tell

Bye bye ,see you in July.

So you sell a player at any cost??? What message does that send?
You set a fee, if the other club offer less you say no
It’s simple, otherwise just bend over to everyone

No, not at any cost. A reasonable fee. £10mil is a reasonable fee for a work in progress who doesn’t want to be here and will be walking out the door for nothing

Would you rather bend over for 10 million or for nothing, because either way you are getting fucked!

Should have taken the money, put it down to experience and forgotten about him
