Watching Belgium vs France last night and the Mbappe/Benzema link up just reassured me Madrid won’t really go for him as a luxury signing this summer, something I have been saying for awhile. They already have the perfect 9 for their squad and to make Mbappe the big star

He’s 33, he still has some years left. They won’t sign a player like Haaland to not be 100% in the starting XI. They don’t have the money to afford that and everything else they need. A 9 is the lowest of their priorities after they get Mbappe. Please don’t list me all the players they are getting rid of. Their finances don’t allow them to get rid of X from their wage bill and add exactly the same X. It’s not as bad as Barcelona but it’s very delicate

I wrote a very long post two days ago about how Madrid is not today the Madrid of when a question like this could be asked. It would be a luxury signing that they can’t afford at this point. Maybe in five, six years Haaland will end up there, but I don’t see them getting him now. And I don’t see Haaland wanting to go there with Benzema and Mbappe there getting all the numbers and spotlight from him. Without a strong national team to rack up stats, he needs to be a superstar with mega numbers at club level.

Yes agreed, they are in the shit big time in terms of their squad. Its got so many old players especially in midfield that are on the brink of leaving, they have to invest big time there if they want to be successful again. Mbappe and Haaland would be incredible, but when its being fed by what they have, they will still struggle.

I don’t think being the first number 9 of his team is much for him to ask considering his age and what he’s been delivering, and he would be that at a number of teams. There at Madrid, not yet.

I don’t think Madrid can afford to add Mbappe, Haaland and everything they need. Once they add Mbappe, they would far more be in need of a Paul Pogba, a player they have been linked with in the past. And then a lot of other positions including CB, and it wouldn’t shock me to see Laporte linked with them again. Would Bayern sign Haaland having Lewandowski still there? Would Haaland want to go there in that scenario of “just wait a few years”? I highly doubt it.,

Sometimes people talk about Madrid in the same way fans of other clubs talk about City, as if we could easily afford to sign three 150 million players in one window or something like that. Or like people who talk as if Tom Cruise is still the biggest star in the world. “It’s Real Madrid!” is no different than “It’s Manchester United!”

That , of course, does not mean that they will get Haaland for certain , but they will have a good shot and they will def. try in my opinion. There is no way their media would keep talking about Real getting Haaland if there was no interest from Perez. They talked about Hazard and Courtois in the past way before Real actually got them.

Also PSG will also be very interested , especially if they lose Mbappe (which they will in my opinion).

United will be interested as well but don't see a reason why he would join them LOL

So it will be between Real , Psg and maybe/hopefully us. If he chooses with his brain it should be between us and Real , but we would literally be his best choice ( we need a player like him , he could score a lot of goals with all the chances we create , he'd have a chance to work with Guardiola and i'm sure every young talented player would like that, he would have a chance to play in the PL which im sure he wants to, to play for the club his dad played etc)
Of course Real is a team that every player out there would love to have on their record , its a dream move for anyone , but realistically speaking we would be a better choice.
Only thing that could make us not get him is not being committed enough into making this move , in my opinion, which would be a shame as he has the potential to become an absolute legend for us, considering his skills and what he has shown so far at a such young age.

If you look at the Italian press, they also talk about their clubs in unrealistic terms, downplaying their financial crisis and linking them to players that won’t go there. You don’t build a “galacticos” team with Ancelotti as your manager, for starters, and certainly not in their current condition. They can dream of adding Haaland to their team, but it will make much more sense five years from now after they have solved much more pressing issues in the squad. I’m still waiting to hear if they’re really going to have Benzema and Haaland and Mbappe all playing together or one of them happy in the bench. They all start for the majority of clubs in the world. Last summer we were all worried Chelsea could have been a destination for Haaland. No one talks about them anymore as they signed Lukaku. To me, talking about Haaland going there while Benzema (who is having an absolutely brilliant season, it must be said) is as pointless as selling the idea Chelsea will be in for him after signing Lukaku. I know many Madrid fans don’t actually believe Madrid bid the numbers people talked about for Mbappe last summer. Again, I am not saying they can’t afford Mbappe and Haaland, I am saying they can’t afford the two AND EVERYTHING ELSE THEY NEED for their team to be strong moving forward. I’m not sure saying that Benzema plays with Mbappe for France answers my point. I initiated by saying those two playing for France just showed to me that Madrid won’t be seriously in for Haaland, because they work so well. And playing Mbappe, Benzema and Haaland together isn’t the same as playing Ronaldo, Benzema and Bale. But even then, I just found a story from 2016 saying that from 2013 until that point, they had only shared the pitch at the same time 37% of the time.
Last summer I also heard here people saying that Madrid had already gotten their shit together and were ready to spend massively, yet that didn’t happen yet again... Madrid is very good at shaping public perception of them.
They let Ramos go because he is physical decline and he didn’t want to lower his wages, and Varane because his performance level was in decline too and he his wages massive. Yet people talked about Laporte, Pau Torres and Kounde among others and they couldn’t sign any of them. They will need to sign a top CB next summer or even January.
