I read that post. They definitely can afford it and it would be the perfect revenge for Perez considering the super league collapsing around him.

Well if Haaland wants to win anything he better get used to not being the number one or stay at Dortmund and just be a flat track bully.

Madrid are 100% a likely destination. Can afford him, can attract him, can use him (who wouldn't). So are PSG. And others.

Any more or less than ourselves? Probably not.

There really is no one clear favourite for me as to where he is likely to end up, and I don't get some of the argumements it's a dead certain this that, or not.

If we go for him, we have a chance, there are benefits that others may not have, they too have their own to offer. Trying to guess whay he would go for is fun, arguing he likely wouldn't though is not (for me).

Ultimately, if we ho for him, we have a strong chance. So do the rest. His decision will settle it.

Again, I am not saying they can’t afford Mbappe and Haaland, I am saying they can’t afford the two AND EVERYTHING ELSE THEY NEED for their team to be strong moving forward. I’m not sure saying that Benzema plays with Mbappe for France answers my point. I initiated by saying those two playing for France just showed to me that Madrid won’t be seriously in for Haaland, because they work so well. And playing Mbappe, Benzema and Haaland together isn’t the same as playing Ronaldo, Benzema and Bale. But even then, I just found a story from 2016 saying that from 2013 until that point, they had only shared the pitch at the same time 37% of the time.
Last summer I also heard here people saying that Madrid had already gotten their shit together and were ready to spend massively, yet that didn’t happen yet again... Madrid is very good at shaping public perception of them.
They let Ramos go because he is physical decline and he didn’t want to lower his wages, and Varane because his performance level was in decline too and he his wages massive. Yet people talked about Laporte, Pau Torres and Kounde among others and they couldn’t sign any of them. They will need to sign a top CB next summer or even January.

Yes I do. Not because of Mbappe, but because they have Benzema there and they have a long list of pressing issues in their squad to fix first. When you hear from Madrid fans, this is what they say: Mbappe will be our guy and we need to sign for X, Y and Z positions. Last summer when we were linked to Sergio Ramos, it was clear that only made sense if one of our CBs left.
If Madrid is in for Haaland with Benzema, then so is Chelsea again despite Lukaku and Bayern if they keep Lewandowski. It’s the same scenario.

Need I remind you that Perez bought Benzema and Cristiano in the same transfer window (2009-2010) even though Raul was still there but 32 yo (younger than Benzema right now) . Raul an absolute Real Madrid legend. They also had Higuain at the time.

Perez getting Mbappe is already a brilliant signing for him. A player that will be winning a Ballon D’or almost inevitably very soon. That will make Madrid an attractive club.
In your second paragraph, you are comparing things that imo to be compared would be a stretch. Madrid then and now is in a very different situation. La Liga is in a different situation. The Premier League and the English clubs weren’t in the same position. You look at Serie A, in footballing terms it’s a stronger league than La Liga now, crazy as that seems.
I have no question that when time comes, he will make the performance of interest in Haaland, because as I have been saying, it makes Madrid look very powerful. But I will stand by my opinion that they will not have Benzema, Mbappe and Haaland in the same squad at this point, while all three are playing at this level. For Haaland, as I have been saying, it also wouldn’t make much sense. I will stand by this.
If at the start of next season all three are there, I will be here apologizing, that’s a promise. But I want to stress that this opinion I am laying is not just mine but also of several reasonable Madrid fans who sure “aren’t running the club” but know it and its current condition quite well. People here not many months ago thought Barcelona had a good shot at signing Haaland and the Barcelona media was quick to push this as well. Then reality settled in

This forum is full of people screaming that City need a LB for the past decade and we still haven't bought one. Clubs are either blind to obvious flaws or dont give a fuck because we want yet another 100m attacking option.
Yet we are supposed to believe that Madrid wont sign Haaland because some Real fans think they should get a new CB first...

Perez wants big names and what better way to bounce back from COVID etc then get Haaland, Mbappe and Pogba for a total of Haalands release clause. Forget the wages, they are shipping out a ton of players to make up for it. The first galacticos era was famous for Perez not believing in defensive signings and rewarding the likes of Makelele. Still won league titles and a CL.

Modric has been replaced by Camavinga
Bale doesn't even play anymore but lets say hes been replaced by Vinicius Jr.

Marcelo has been replaced by Ferland Mendy.
Isco has been replaced by lets say Rodrygo.

They have Brahim out on loan finally showing his promise and a couple others also.

They have a ton of players e.g. Nacho, Asensio, Jovic, Mariano, Ceballos, Lucas Vasquez and so forth they could sell if they needed to raise money for someone like Pau Torres or someone else in La Liga with a release clause to plug a gap in the squad.

Imagine the commercial deals that Real would sign with Haaland, Mbappe and Pogba fronting them. It would be insane.

Benzema keeps getting mentioned but offer Perez the chance to bin Benzema and sign Haaland and we know what option he is going for, it would be daft to not do it.

Even the names you listed they can’t all get replacements done in one window. But sure, they will get Haaland first because he’s a superstar etc. Madrid, for all their megalomania, do have a very good analytics team capable of identifying weakness and targets, they don’t fall for stuff like this.

But anyway:
What about Benzema, who is their best player this season and will very possibly start for France at the next World Cup? He’s a non entity? I don’t think so. But notice how you included Pogba there, which I have mentioned many times. That’s a player they will need with much more urgency. And they would have three starting players for France who is probably still the favorite for the next World Cup.
Assuming they will look at Benzema and pretend he’s not there for the next shining toy doesn’t make sense to me. Of course, if tomorrow we start to get reliable news that either Benzema wants to leave or they want him gone, I will change my mind! Until then...

They had Benzema , Ronaldo , Higuain and Raul playing in the same squad (not all at once obv) they can have benzema , mbappe and haaland at the same time imo.
But the fact that they want them doesnt mean they will get them.
I'll get back to you next summer when they will try to get them both to give you a 'told you so' lol
