Lille won because of PSG’s unbelievable incompetence and still they won it by only one point. Then what happened was PSG spent a shocking amount of money in the summer window to assure that even with incompetence they couldn’t come close to such embarrassment again

My original post was that I don’t like the term being used, and I believe I have the right to do so on this forum. If other posters choose to then start a debate with me on this topic, I shall naturally reply. As I am now doing with you on this ‘stupid thing’ that is so stupid you felt compelled to write. If you had read my other posts in reply to other posters, you would know why I don’t like it being used. And if you wish to bring in the ‘N’ word, then yes, I feel that calling the French league a ‘farmer’s league’ is borderline racism. We are City, and we are above that

Well, forgiving you ignoring the fact that EVERY REGULAR STARTER for England plays in England, I would also politely point out that on a good day, we have four of our own team also starting for England.

Can PSG, or any other team in France, say they have four French National Team players in their team?

As you will see, I put “home grown” in inverted commas to enable you to see I was not talking about the official FA or UEFA designation, but home nationals.

Carry on being defensive, but at least shoot straight and pick good examples!

The point is that Lille wasn’t even that great a team. They were just the ones to benefit from PSG’s incompetence. It’s different from when Klopp’s Dortmund won the Bundesliga for instance, by truly beating Bayern in good form

So it’s still fair game to call Ligue 1 a ‘farmer’s league’ because there are few home-grown players in it?
It’s a derogatory term and it’s abusive. Not unlike what we have to put up with with ‘petrodollars’ and ‘Arab money’. And we are quite rightly offended by those terms.
