Erling Haaland

that's the key for me short term value with kane and at the price they wanted city dodge a bullet
haaland or mbappe then yes the price tag would be value long term and have a resell price if they wanted out

Manchester city would be mad to not try and sign haaland or mbappe ? its what the squad needs and add goals to what we have then manchester city become even more dangerous to the elite

I’m on the same page, but for different reasons.
As I see it, players future values aren’t the issue, the player fee is written off by the end of the initial contract and the player can then walk anyhow. My concern with older players is that their contribution is more likely to tail off than improve.

I’m also not convinced re Haaland either because I’ve never seen him play possession football in the tightest of spaces against low block defences. I’m also nervous about having Raiola running his clown show in our camp in regard to what would be our most important expensive asset.
Having said that, if we do get him then I guess that will signal that Pep has a plan to utilise him and I’ll be happy with that because I really don’t have a scoobie in comparison.

yep
age and your form can go down hill fast after 28 and pick up a bad injury could also write off another 12 months
Manchester city pep never got on with Raiola and he loves up setting the apple cart with his players.

but for the reasons of not playing in the formation pep likes and the pressing and possession football i think he would take to it like a duck to water ? maybe pep will have to rethink a little bit to fit the striker in. but what a lovely option to have something different to make over clubs think about city's setups

Yep, I can appreciate the benefit of having a big lump of a player to change our approach / introduce a battering ram when we need to mix it up a bit, but to my mind Haaland would be too expensive for anything other than full time use, and that doesn’t fit well with a sometimes need.
Now if he has it in him to play in deep midfield, use his size in the box for set pieces and push up into a roaming striker role on demand, the way Yaya used to do, then that would give him a role in every game I think he’d be worth every brass farthing.

I have fond memories of the days when we’d take an attacking player off and put a defensive one on - and the pundits would be saying that “City have made a defensive substitution” when we all knew it meant that Yaya would be unleashed to charge through the opposition and tear asunder yet another, otherwise tight defence.

It’s certainly in Pep’s nature to understand how best to deploy a players skill set and physical attributes use in ways that other managers wouldn’t or couldn’t even dream of, so maybe eh?

pep finds ways to play players that the eyebrows raised ? haaland would be a good stand in keeper for ederson to bomb forward hahaha

haaland would be ideal for me and to bounce the ball off him like a wall and the one/two with foden could net us 10 to 15 goals a season from foden. then haaland scores 25 goals a season in his sleep in this city team.
for me its having something else to hurt the better teams and much like liverpool try to outscore the rest by half time.

the miss chances we create each week is crazy ? i know for a fact kills and eats away with pep because we should kill games off much quicker and then rotate with the key players from the bench
