Even if he signs for us we’ll get this. Constantly stories about him wanting a move to Madrid and using us as a stepping stone for Madrid. Don’t have any problem with that as long as we get a decent amount of cash for him and he bangs in the goals for 3/4/5 seasons.

You can try and negotiate around it, i.e. "ill pay you 10% more than the clause but spread out over three years" or something but if you trigger the actual clause you just pay the money and go. It's pre-written.
