It really helps if you view all this circus - Mino and Alfie publicly swanning about in front of the cameras at Barca Airport, Dortmund saying he’s not for sale under any circumstances - as part of the negotiation game.

This is a complex and high stakes deal - probably the biggest this summer - with astronomical budgets sitting behind it.

The players aren’t just going to play their entire hand in the first round like a child, then stand up, leave the table and go home. Why would they, when they know they’ll make a lot more from playing this out.

Try not to take every statement at its word, and assume the deal is done or dead because of it. This isn’t going to be completed quickly - it’s too big a deal - so we’ll hear a whole lot more shit from all sides before he finally gets his move.

We’ll all save ourselves a lot of stress if we see this for what it is - a complex, high stakes negotiation, or a circus/drama with several acts - rather than a simple transaction where every word is to be taken at face value.

It also serves BVB. To the extent that Dortmund can drive a bidding war - whether real or perceived, helps them push their €180 million demand for the player. There is a reason that Chelsea and Barça are included in this courtship - because they are known to pay-up. That helps BVB more than it helps Haaland.

I know it’s early and there are many other factors involved but I worry about missing out on this transfer due to what it represents. Having the top talent in world football pick us signifies that we’re a good destination that the best players want to choose. If not it shows we still aren’t quite at that level. Some people here won’t care or think it’s important but sometimes it is

Please don't worry about factors you cannot control.
We will be ok.
