I don't think it's totally out of the question. At Barca Pep had had Villa and Henry on the wings while Messi was the false 9. The idea of having Messi drop into midfield because he had good ball control and pull defenders out of position to open up space for the wingers.Controversial and mostly daydreaming I know but maybe if Haaland comes it's not to replace Aguero or Jesus in the middle but to replace Sterling or Mahrez out wide?
If Haaland needs space to run into he won't get that through the middle for us. Alternatively on the wings there's often the opportunity to beat a man and run in on goal. We usually forfeit that chance by turning back to pass but would Haaland have the belief and ability to take it on?
Just a thought :-)
