Erling Haaland

So despite all of your waffle you agree that I didn't say Yaya could play striker? Good to know.

And you still think Haaland would make a better CM than striker? Also good to know. Hopefully Pep reads BM and will take your excellent tactical analysis to heart.

Fucking hell, Centurian, you’re such a pedantic preacher of your own perspective that you could put a glass eye to sleep.
I’m on here to share opinions with fellow fans, no expectation that everyone will think alike and you’re on my case like a rash, picking at my words, misquoting me and generally acting like a twat because you don’t like my opinion.
I’m sure that you’re a wonderful guy etc. but I’m not up for this childish getting the last word in edgeways nonsense.

This is supposed to a forum for diverse opinion not a mosh pit For keyboard warriors so I’ll leave you to it fella.

I won’t encourage you by responding to any more of your nonsense.
So go on then, it’s a free hit against a soft target (+ the safety of the keyboard).
I’m putting you on ignore, I won’t read your drivel or reply, so go on then mate, feel free, get the last word in, in my absence and please be at absolute liberty to misquote me again, it makes you look so clever that you know you’ve just got to eh?

I think context here is necessary. He was giving an interview to a “newspaper” that is basically Real Madrid propaganda. So he knew what to say and, beyond that, there is an editor to make things even juicier

Having said that, what he is saying here simply is true

But the first quote that leaked was “Real Madrid can afford him”, but now we have the full quote, and it’s this:

"- Can Madrid afford Haaland?
- I don't know, because I didn't study your finances. But I believe yes. I think every club can afford it. But the question is: can Madrid afford not to buy Haaland? And Barça?"

It’s very vanilla.

It should be noted that the both Madrid sports papers mention DAILY that Mbappe is their first target

Careful with the Madrid Zone twitter account edit of the already edited As version of the interview...

Mendy and Walker were the most expensive LB and RB respectively when we bought them in 2017.

Also Ederson was the joint most expensive GK depending on how you measured it, I think he was in euro but not pounds, or he was in pounds but not Euros? There was some confusion because Buffon was bought in Lira just before Italy moved to the Euro.

Cancelo is also the most expensive full back.

So yeah, we're not afraid to spend money.
All of your points are well taken - mea culpa for stating that we've never purchased the most expensive player at any position.

And yet, each of those purchases - I think you'd agree - were the best we could do at the time - needing a top player and basing our purchase on the market at the time.
===
At any rate, there's plenty of posts in the news stating that we're all-in for Haaland - at the same time there's numerous articles stating otherwise.

It's simply a guessing game at this point.
===
IMO - we'd like to sign a top striker. And if Haaland is willing/committed to play for us - we'll definitely do our best to sign him.
===
It seems that betting sites still favor us to sign Haaland:
===
I remain skeptical that we'll sign Haaland though I'd love to see this occur.

The amount he’d score in this team is scary. We need somebody who’s clinical, without Aguero today (as clinical as they come) then it makes the whole game a lot harder. He needs to be replaced correctly!
