Erling Haaland

He knows what made him tick. It doesn’t look as though he can pass it on though, going on what he’s done this season.

If Delap has any chance of making it with us, I think he needs to go to a team that tries to play football like us. Get him used to pressing and shutting down passing lanes. He’s already shown he can finish.
I know he’ll be keen for games but because of the above I think he’d actually be better suited staying with us, much like Foden was. He’s already got the strikers instinct and physicality, I think he’d be better suited to learn the rest from Pep at the minute rather than Farke or anyone else.

Maybe give him a loan the season after if we think he’d benefit from some some top level football

Because it’s an entirely different situation.
And I’m not “very, very sure”, but I’m as confident as it gets looking at the real signs, and not what, for instance, the Dortmund CEO wants their official line to be. That’s just part of the game
but you havent said how you know that the CEO wont hold out as he did with Sancho.....you must agree that its a possibility if he has done it once he will do it again....
If its about money he may well sell Sancho and keep Haaland

Frankfurt currently losing at home with 20 minutes left. Looking like Dortmund will finish in the top 4.

I’ll say what I said before: wait and see. But remember you doubted me earlier when it happens.
The Dortmund fans I talk too, for your information, too, are 100% convinced he’s leaving

Their Leicester

Always thought they (dortmund) would finish in the top4. Bundesliga is such a piss poor league.

Never thought it would make That much of a difference to Haaland staying/leaving.

Frankfurt just scored

btw Felix Brych is refereeing this — poorly

If you were CEO of a business and you could buy an asset now for £150 million or wait a year and buy exactly the same asset for £75 million, what would you do?
Depends on how much I wanted the asset, whether I could afford it and whether or not I was confident in being able to secure it with a lot of added competition a year later.

I’d assess whether there’s anyone else out there with £150 million to spend. If not, I’d chill out.

It's not posturing anymore, but can't see him moving this summer.Only thoughts that made me feel BVB would sell him, was 1. If they missed out on the UCL,and with Frankfurt capitulating, they are now dead cert to finish in the top 4,and 2. If nobody comes in for Sancho, and with United,Chelsea etc looking very willing to splash on him,he looks he is the one who will leave. That Sancho fee goes a long way in offsetting their financial troubles, and little chance, they let both Sancho & Haaland leave in the same summer
With a guaranteed 75 M € next summer,
how much above the clause would BVB feel it makes more sense to let him go to jeopardise their 'title' and top 4 chances next season? Because with him, they stand a higher chance of finishing in the top 4 next year and 'competing'. It would have to be something very close to 200 M € I feel to turn their heads and with the agent fees and salary on top of that,I don't think we/anyone interested comes up with such a package this summer. They don't exactly like us anyway so we can rule out any discounts lol,so slowly coming around to the idea that,as much as everything aligns with him and us..a perfect match..a very high chance it won't happen this summer and don't feel we can afford to wait for the clause to kick in..So much can happen in an years time and ofcourse more suitors at the table, waiting would be very naive.

You seem to ignore that we have a leverage on the Sancho deal, with the clause. It has been reported multiple times by the media and discussed again and again in tolmie’s threads that we plan on using it on the Haaland deal. That means that the best thing for us (and Dortmund) was United not getting Sancho last season. Do you really think they would let go of making more on Sancho AND miss on the difference between Haaland this season and next? We’re the only ones who can offer them that package. Madrid, for instance, couldn’t. It also does Dortmund no favor to piss off Raiola in this situation. Their model is about operating closely with agents. Going out of their way to hang on to him for one season means sending a message of unreliability not just to Raiola, but the other agents they work with or could potentially work with in the future. None of this was a factor in Sancho last year. And they’re financially worse off now.
As for “oh but keeping Haaland increases their chance of qualifying for the UCL”, they will have a new manager next season, their team in constantly rebuilding and they will have money to improve the squad. For them, it’s not an issue to lose players, it never is. And they know they have no chance of competing for the Bundesliga title, like you said. Bayern has already won that for next season, again.

Given that they're reportedly asking for around 100 M € for Sancho, reasonably reachable for United,Chelsea, that 15-20 M € or so is hardly a substantial discount off their 'asking' price lol to use as leverage even, given that an offer imo would have to be too good to turn down, nearer to 200 M € than 100 M € and imo no one comes up with such a package (well north of 200 M €,
agent fees and wages included) this summer. As much as he feels that he is ready to take the next step and win titles,he is hardly desperate to leave this summer..still young, the main man for a decent club, will continue to score for fun in that league and will be playing in the CL..and he'll have of this choice of clubs at his feet next summer anyway, and him and his entourage will know that so can't him throwing a fuss about it if BVB tell him privately it's either offer X/you stay.
Like I said,If/when Sancho leaves, unless a stupidly crazy offer arrives and turns their head,BVB will feel, that having Erling gives them a bigger chance of finishing in the top 4 next year, winning the BuLi or Pokal and going far in the CL,and also bring in finances that come with progression/winning,and moreso with a new manager coming in,can't see them handicapping him and letting both of their star players go
What message to agents? Unreliability? Lol its just business, nothing personal, not a love triangle.BVB & agents understand that. It's a contract,it's hardly a prison sentence, the message is come with a substantial offer and you'll leave or be smart and insert a release clause then, else you'll leave on their terms.

This guy is a Dzeko type of player. He will score goals, but his overall play will not fit our system. Mbappé is twice the player. He scores, creates chances and is very dangerous in his overall play.
