Just think the club will activate the release clause in January. Dortmund really can't do anything.

IF it is true, which it might not be. I personally don't believe it. That's just the timing of the clause itself, before you get to whether we'd go for acrivating it to sign him.

They can do what Villa did and see if anyone else is willing to top the buyout. If there is an auction then the buyout is just the starting point unless the player insists he wants a particular club that have met at least the minimum.

His agent will pick the team that pays him, Haaland and Haaland’s Dad the most which might be a club which is just offering the buyout fee or someone willing to offer more.

They will also go for another buyout clause which will put a lot of clubs off.

If we offer 140 million and 300 grand in wages then united will offer 150 million and 500 thousand in wages.

It's standard fayre and par for the course.

If say he had a release clause of £75m why would anyone pay over that? That doesn’t make sense

that isn’t typically how buyout clauses work. Anybody willing to pay the buyout clause can discuss and agree terms with the player and the selling club has to accept that deal.

the only reason a club would offer more than the buyout would be if they needed the selling club to agree to something like spreading payments over 5 years, or accepting some of it as performance related cluases etc

there can’t be a bidding war between clubs on the players price. Only on his personal terms and payments to agents etc

Fair point. I'll still be amazed though, if he ends up at us, rather than Madrid or PSG.
I won't. We are a better team than Madrid, better manager, better players, need a striker more than them. Madrid's a bigger attraction sure, but I don't know why people are doubting that haaland would want to play for us ahead of other teams. Have some faith!
