Erling Haaland

Not difficult to work out.

Call it £120m if Levy had caved.

Call it £350k a week over five years - another £84m in wages.

Call it (conservatively) a £10m signing fee and another £5m for his brother.

It would have been roughly a commitment of £220m for Kane, eight years older and not in the same class.

Yeah and thats being conservative, assuming the bare minimum bonuses transfer fee, and wages. While assuming the high end guesses for Haaland.

Reality is, don't think there is a top striker out there that would cost significantly less. Vlahovic may be on slightly lower wages, but he's hardly going to be paid as a zinchenko, at circa 75m trasfer value plus bonuses, wages would surely be relative and proportional, you don't pay that for a player and then pay him 150k a week.

One thing that seems to be totally airbrushed over about this lad is that he constantly gets injured. That's not a good sign at 21 years old.

Constantly?

He has been constantly injured in the last 3 weeks, sure. I don't remember that many lengthy absences last couple of years, but I could be wrong. Doubt Dortmund would have been demanding as high a fee last summer if he was that unreliable.

Either way, this latest one will no doubt play some part in his move to the next club.

All transfers have risk, but if Kane does not work out, it's dead money, no chance of recouping anything like the original investment but in Haalands's situation even if was not a success your always going to recoup a decent amount with his age and future potential.

If Haaland comes and is successful and we have no reason to doubt he won't his value will go through he roof, so as long as we keep a grip on his contract, we have a huge increasing asset.

It's not too terrible, the most recent being down to the new managers regime by all accounts.

I agree. That is why it was unfathomable that 82 % of posters wanted to sign Kane.

I was one of them. City need a penalty box killer, someone who doesn't miss from six yards. Kane in this team would still score plenty and had the advantage over Haaland from an aerial standpoint.

Haaland has a far higher ceiling and can score other goals Kane can only dream of, coupled with his age and global standing.

It was the age and the fact that his legs are on the wane that led me to believe it would have been the worst 120 MILLION investment possible.

people here really tend to grossly overestimated both how much football one player gets in this team with all the rotation, but also how "injury prone" a player is
A couple of those lengths are offset with the 2 week break in German football over xmas, so he may have missed more. but for a kid growing and playing 24/7 i dont see anything major

I disagree mate as We paid similar for Dias and his initial contract was apparently 80k per week … his new contract apparently doubled to 160k because he merited it with his performances

I imagine something similar for vlahovic maybe just over 100k with bonuses on top of that and potential for new improved terms when he’s proved himself

After doing some research vlahovic currently earns around 26k per week by the way

agree. City just need a poacher a killer in the box, someone with brilliant movement to get onto chances. The creative spark is there just missing the final piece.

People don't realize how fast Haaland is either I don't think. He's as fast or faster than Sane and Davies in the bundesliga. At least last year they recorded him at the fastest sprint speed in the bundesliga for that year which just blows my mind because I don't think of him as particularly fast. A player with the strength of Zlatan with the speed Mbappe. He is going to be the most dangerous player in Europe for the next 5-7 years, possibly more. His physique is that of a Golden God lmao.

Him and Mbappe are the fastest around today, no wonder they are going to be fighting among themselves for the individual awards in the near future. It’s the football of today. And btw, since people were talking about injuries earlier, Mbappe’s injury history is much worse than Haaland’s (though nothing that extraordinary either)

The 2 fastest and also 2 of the most clinical

Hence why the sums involved with both of them are what they .. players like these don’t come around all too often

Hindsight really, we could of signed Kane and raving about it now, or done the opposite possibly. Just got to accept the situation for what it is. I just hope the striker due is delivered according to our expectations, Haaland will be available, and a few others. We just have to get it right and get it done quick.
