Erling Haaland

what the fuck does being a "pep striker" even mean? we've had exactly 2 strikers under pep, and one of them underwhelmed him that he moved him to the wing. in his 5 years he hasn't brought forth any other strikers. clearly, he himself doesn't really have a clear idea of what a "pep striker" is.

A little false 9 with searing pace, brilliant feet, incredible finishing and once in a lifetime tekkerz.

Doesn't bode well for Haaland lol!

This again? Lol they don’t give up on their own ignorance (of history and of facts)
If they could ignore the author, this would start to give them an idea: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...aaland-transfer-manchester-city-b1826759.html
Haaland is PRECISELY a Pep striker. They think he isn’t for the way Dortmund play. They never watched Salzburg, clearly. They would have thought Lewandowski wasn’t a Pep striker either just by his Dortmund days. Or even Ronaldo, before he wanted him

I'm pretty sure nobody has agreed to take over yet, we aren't even sure there is a vacancy. No manager will put thir career on hold on the chance of a job. We will have a handful in mind , but that's all. If Pep make clear he is going it will be about this time next year we start approaching replacements.
That all depends if that manager is Luis Enrique!

Said this on here a couple of times do we actually need a out and out striker? We seem to do very well without one(save for the odd blip). And before anybody piles on can I just say when we had Aguero injured( most of the time) we smashed this league. Who would we drop to accommodate a striker and stifle the way we play?. Pep is using tactics never seen before in this league and apart from losing the European cup final with one of his dodgy selection I don’t see who could make us any better.

Yes.
Your post implies the team doesn’t have weaknesses or limitations. It does. And you start to fix it with a worldclass striker. Pep of course knows this better than anyone. I still think the most dangerous team of his career was the best version of his Bayern with Lewandowski on fire

Imagine having one though. Our opponents would not know whether to prepare for Haaland or a false 9. Would make it a nightmare to prepare against us.

Probably whoever we would have dropped to accommodate Kane if we had got him in the summer.
Pep presents a new version of the team every season.
The easier answer comes from asking how he would have fitted Ronaldo in the team. He believed Ronaldo would have scored 40 a season in this team.

Not really, unless Pep has told the club this is definitely it. I agree though Enrique will be under consideration with probably 2 or 3 others, which we could probably have a fair guess at. Wouldn’t like to guess the clubs preference though.

If we have Pep for just one more year after this season, it would be very naive to think the club will not be looking for a striker of quality. There is no other team winning so much without a recognised striker and the reason for that is Pep, and only Pep. Any new manager would surely want a striker and the club will be planning ahead and will accomodate. Haaland would be No.1 but am liking Vlahovic, who potentially is more of a City player in terms of cost and wages.

Great post.
I would like to think that Pep would have loved his stay enough to help and support any future transition.

That's true but he inherited him and he had to change Sergio's game to suit. Sergio is one of the reasons that I believe Pep would be cool on Haaland but we will have to wait and see.
I’d guess Pep having seen the amount of chances we miss would probably now want a goal scorer above everything else.
Probably why the Kane interest too.

Hes clinical something our team lacks.

put Haaland in the Liverpool, PSG games we destroy them. The amount of chances created for a striker in those games Haaland would’ve scored 5. Same with some of our wins add Haaland to us against Chelsea we would’ve beat them 3 to 4 nil.

We have the best creative players in the world but lack that clinical player to finish those chances.

Its why rival fans are terrified of the prospect of a out and out striker in this pep team. It’s the final piece to make one of the most frightening teams in football.

On a formal level, the worldclass striker actually allows for MORE tactical changes including during the games, not less
