Just wondering if this might get done a bit quicker now. Talk on the radio today of regulating agents next season. Whispers of 10 per cent of a players fee is all they can charge.
Agree but also those same agents do take advantage of the same naïve players for their personal benefit.Agents are generally good. They protect working class lads who know nothing about contract law or economic value from the vultures who run football clubs. They make sure their boys get paid the right amount. Without them, we'd still have footballers on £20k a week.

I would expect they just deal with the one club they are told too, employed agents will do the full ring round and circus stuff to get anyone to the table.Agree but also those same agents do take advantage of the same naïve players for their personal benefit.
I still don't understand why players don't use the PFA reps who do it for free.
Because eventually, they will put football clubs out of business, it is called biting the hand that feeds you. It's is a bad thing. Why should working class lads who have dedicated themselves to a craft since they were toddlers, get good enough to be one of the in the world and earn their clubs tens of millions per year and be paid 0.1% of that?
Its simple business. People who make the company money deserve to be rewarded with a good percentage of that money they generated. The football business is the players business. Without the players, nobody cares. It is their talent that generates the money.
I think i'm a commie because in my ideal world the ownerwould charge £3.50 to get inIt's is a bad thing. Disagree.Because eventually, they will put football clubs out of business, it is called biting the hand that feeds you.
Boys earning 20k, established players earning 150-400k the common working man who has dedicated himself to his craft since he was 16yo gets 30k a year if he is lucky, this person then has to pay more and more to watch the impoverished players ply their trade, sometimes twice a week and in some cases three times in a week.
I am not advocating that football goes back to pre-Jimmy Hill levels but obviously football at all levels can not afford to keep on paying through the nose.
If a big club like Barcelona are financially fucked it says a lot, but really it is the trickle effect to lower leagues, where these footballers are now on 1,2 5k a week and that really is unsustainable but the player still holds all the cards as they can see out their contract and walk to a club willing to pay the increase.
It has got to stop/slow down soon or even we will not be able to finance all the contracts for the star players we have never mind new signings looking at 350k or more.
Deserve is an interesting word. Although I tend to agree. It's is a bad thing. Why should working class lads who have dedicated themselves to a craft since they were toddlers, get good enough to be one of the in the world and earn their clubs tens of millions per year and be paid 0.1% of that?

Disagree.
Football clubs have no problem signing billion pound tv deals, sponsorships and charging £6 a pint and £8 for a pie to the fan in the stands.
Barca are fucked because of corruption, arrogance and greed. It was their choice to go and burn money, like 150m on Coutinho and give him a huge contract despite it being completely ridiculous and laughable at the time, it looks even worse now and you can put that alongside all of the other crap they bought.
Players shoud get their slice of the pie, they train all year round to play at the highest level. They should get rewarded for it.
Just as well we've got FFP stopping clubs from getting into debt then eh!Because eventually, they will put football clubs out of business, it is called biting the hand that feeds you.

Adeyemi move is for Summer.
Yes, it was a great invention by the powers that be.Just as well we've got FFP stopping clubs from getting into debt then eh!
This. Barca are fucked because they couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery, they’ve been in the shit before and haven’t learned owt from it. Fuck them.
You don't think 100k a week is a decent enough reward? Let's say 3m a year after tax a ten year career = 30m after tax, just how will they live out their retirement on that.Disagree.

Do you think my post was really all about Barca? This. Barca are fucked because they couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery, they’ve been in the shit before and haven’t learned owt from it. Fuck them.
I've been hearing for over 50 years that money is ruining football and that the bubble will burstDo you think my post was really all about Barca?
Rather than just using them as an example of a club that has spent massively on wages in the last 20 years as wages have skyrocketed and really should be bankrupted, no club is sustainable long term with a player on 1m a week and 10-20 others getting over 300k.
But yeah, fuck Barca and fuck any point I was trying to make.

As opposed to the 1m a week that Messi got and bankrupted Barcelona, along with all the other high earners.
I see you chose to not bother with the trickle-down effect on lower division clubs though.
Have you seen the price of food at the cinema?
I bet they don't pay the ticket seller 300k a week.
Yes, that's the same, you win.The ticket seller doesn't generate £300k a week for them to pay him.
Think of it another way. Let's say that you're a salesman for a ketchup company. This ketchup company has existed as a small family ran business out of a kitchen for the past 30 years. They sell a few hundred ketchup bottles a year. Now you come along and you are a superstar; in your first year you sell £2000m worth of ketchup to everybody in the world.
The owner of the company buys himself a new mansion, a Porsche, decks himself out in Italian designer suits, sends his kids on holiday to Dubai. He also invests in a massive factory to mass produce ketchup and a huge sales team to keep it all running, and he owns all of it. The assets belong to him.
Then he comes to you and gives you your £30k a year cheque. You made him a billionaire last year almost singlehandedly and he recognises that you did generate £2bn in sales. So he cuts you another cheque for £100k and tells you that you can now live comfortable for the rest of your life.
Do you know what I believe your response should be to that? It should be to go and tell him to fuck himself. He doesn't get to decide what is the "right standard of living" that you are "allowed". You are the one who earned the money, you are the one who generated the revenue and as such you are entitled to a decent share of that money regardless what he thinks your "proper place" in society is.
Excellent, I am not 50yo yet so I haven't, but 50 years ago players were hardly getting paid more than a normal working man, so I may cast a little doubt on your post timeline tbh.I've been hearing for over 50 years that money is ruining football and that the bubble will burst
