Ive said it for a while but he seems Madrid bound to me.........If he wasnt Raiolas client Id think different but we all know Raiola likes to keep his clients moving around every 3-4 years or so and keep getting them big money moves to fill his own pockets.....

As much as Id love it to happen there is no way Haaland comes here and becomes a legend like Sergio/Dvid Silva/Kompany and does a decade here or something similar.....

Raiola needs his cash bow to keep moving around clubs

With Tolmie saying that they are angry and upset about the release clause. I don’t think Haaland wants to spend 6 to 8 years at Madrid, if he does like the premier league and also likes Zlatans career path. Maybe he wants to do 4 to 5 years in Spain then come to England he’d be 25 a lot more experienced to put up with the physicality and schedule.

That massive release clause would stop him from doing that. I think he will go Madrid but the release clause will decrease each year to something affordable.

So that when he’s done / bored of Spain he can leave without Madrid holding him against his will. Now Perez who is a egotistical dick, is probably against that as he thinks Madrid is the final destination for a player. That’s why he Probably wants a massive release clause in Haalands contract. Which I’m guessing is pissing Mino, his father and Haaland off as that stops any way for Haaland to leave.

The problem with the above is City and Pep want a striker now. Maybe we do a stop gap signing for now. A player that can come in for 3 years leave then we would be right in the fight for Haaland, once he feels ready to come to the prem. We know he loves the premier league from interview clips. The question is would City wait.
Imo it works more him coming to England 1st then move to Spain

He gets best of both worlds, his buyout, he plays with a great team, great manager, gets a great wage, his agent & dad get hughly paid but he gets an easier move abroad & City get a handsome fee also

If he goes the other way then Madrid & Spanish FA make it difficult for him to fuck off

I think City have a great chance here but they have to bend over in a certain way they wouldn't normally do transfers & contracts

Mino wants at least 3 big deals for this kid

Not Necessarily, There have been a fair few of his clients who have stuck around and stayed at clubs they love, Marco Verratti for Example has been a Mino Client for years, and hasn't left PSG.

Mino's job is to get the most money for his client's if that entails him moving clubs he will, I think that's where the issue with the contract is, He won't be able to start renegotiating with Madrid until Haaland is in his late 20's and Madrid usually start giving players single year deals when they turn 30.

I don't think we should expect anyone to do what Kun, Silva, and Kompany did. However, Mino has had clients stay a clubs for longer than 3-4 years. Lots people were asking why Kane signed that deal and is now stuck at Tottenham... Players (and agents) should be getting smarter and not signing contracts that keep them trapped if the club won't sell especially at big clubs that tend to not need to sell players.

Ive never heard about a progressively descending release clause in Spain.. I think its set when the contract is signed usually and it was the Neymar transfer that raised it subsequently to astronomical levels for the biggest stars. People still use them at times to buy regular players in Spain though, just this week it was rumoured that Atleti would use Elches RC to get Lucas Boye, good player, and it would drop to 10m if they were relegated..
So it might be structurally and legality-wise possible..

but why should a club be forced to sell a player that is encouraged by an agent based on nothing but his own interest in his own wallet - it has nothing to do with career.

For instance if Haaland went to Madrid and was hugely successful, why should he leave....if he is winning League titles, and CL why wouldnt he stay there....or likewise with us...

The money these guys make mean they are set for life......you can only spend so much....whoever haaland goes to next will ensure he never has to lift a single finger after his career is finished and neiter will any of his family.

Why shouldnt us (or any clubs expect players to do what Kun, Sllva and Kompany did........any of those 3 culd have gone to any club in the world at some point....all decided to stay for the best part of their whole careers (certainly the peak of their careers)?

The likes of Raiola (while clearly very good at their jobs) are motivated by only looking after themselves....they are leeches upon the game and the world in general

I don’t believe players have no say in their careers and do whatever their greedy agent says even if it’s against their best interest. Now players (and agents) have in hindsight realized they made the wrong decision (I believe Mino has said Balo should’ve stayed at City) but I think when a player decides to move or stay they believe it’s what’s best for them at that time. Good agents will encourage their players to do what’s best for their careers and their pockets… but I believe if a players goes somewhere for a payday it’s because they wanted the payday not just because their greedy no good agent told them too. Players who where going to China a few years back for the money werent being forced by their agents they wanted the money too.

We shouldn’t expect players to stay 10 years because it’s rare and no one is signing a 10 year contract. Everyone says now when Kun and David signed no one thought they’d be at City as long as they were. However, I agree, if we’re winning big trophies consistently I don’t know why any player would want to leave but sometimes winning isn’t everything. Players leave winning situations for different reasons. I just don’t think we should drop Haaland if he was to, for example, make it clear he wants to play in Spain after 5 years…
