Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

I’ve began to accept that no matter how facts you throw at other fans and debunk their lies, it only makes things worst. Empty seats joke is staying and it will for years. By the looks of it, it’s peaked this week and it’s going to be a rough time all season.
Then as a club we should make fun of the situation ourselves.

Once upon a time our greatest strength was the ability to laugh at ourselves.

Paints some faces on the seats , whatever, we are supposed to have a great marketing team, let's see how good they are and how creative they are.

Everything is too serious nowadays, we've lost our sense of humour

We won’t be extending the north stand, called it years ago.
Sad to say I agree, the perfect opportunity to do it was during this pandemic when a reduced capacity would have had no detrimental effect.

Real Madrid have just done it, brilliant timing.

Sad, we have missed a glorious chance to bring new fans into the club.

Thats because of the constant lies being published about us over the years. FFP and empty seats jokes have been relentless and for what reason? We’re a big club, just not as big as the two biggest plastic clubs in the world, yet our fans get called shit in national newspapers. There’s no humour in that.

I agree with the fans bit but it only got ramped up this week due to Pep's comments.
Sometimes we don't help ourselves and leave ourselves wide open.
We have this really weird thing at the club from the top, we are so desperate to be liked but it'll never ever happen.
We should just enjoy the ride and have a bit of fun or hit back at the media but the powers that be prefer the bowing down to the media, in the hope they'll one day like us, they never will

But Pep has explained he didn’t mean he wanted more fans to turn up, he just wanted us to get behind the team. The media took advantage of his quotes and we’ve been a laughing stock all week. It’s not the first time Pep has had his words twisted by the media, so what should we do, gag him up?

It's because other than the odd baseless snide comments it's all they have left:

- attack the players? it's a no no to criticise one of the boys ("he'll be disappointed" is as far as they go)
- attack the ownership? they lack the intellect to criticise one of the best business owners in the world game
- attack the manager? they lack the knowledge or insight to criticise one of the best coaches of his generation
- attack the results? the silverware and the style in which it was achieved speaks for itself
- attack the fans? why not - it generates clicks and revenue and they cannot defend themselves

Sky sports and other media are employing ex-pros of limited critical thinking capability for whom the best they can offer is to minutely scrutinise selected images of the stadium to promote a narrative that we as a group of fans are dis-interested and in some way undeserving of our success. The purpose is to sew the seeds of division and undermine the Club in the hope that we start to implode, opening the door for the subscriber-loving global rag/red cash-cows.

It's up to us to prevent that.

The media took advantage of us because we allow them to, would the scousers or the rags allow the media to take the proverbial out of them?

I think we all know the answer.

We only have ourselves to blame for the situation we are in with the UK media.

Considering it was Southampton, no disrespect, a mostly drab 0-0 draw, with moments of excitement, bar the latter stages of the 2nd half, which was quiet, I thought the atmosphere was very good again. Also aided by the banter with the Southampton fans in the second half, and the Southamptons No5, w@nker, w@nker!

Self inflicted self harm by pep not helping.

Further proof of the ongoing agenda across the board, everywhere is infiltrated with scum fans who think they are witty ...Screenshot 2021-09-19 105854.png

At last somebody as hit the nail on the head. We used to be our very own piss takers.
Nobody did irony better than city fans that was always our strength.
It’s been lost in recent times but it’s time to show the fucking world what manc humour is all about, and in particular OUR CITY humour. CITD

It’s a regular feature by our historian and stats man which compare the two clubs. Why is that small time?

How ironic you’re calling out city fans for being insecure and then become insecure yourself over this.
It actually states that it’s a new feature. I know Gary does a lot of articles on attendances and his knowledge of the club is unrivalled but I’m not sure he’s ever done a direct comparison with the club we’re playing on the day. Seems a bit of a coincidence that it’s appeared this weekend and I can’t help thinking that it’s a riposte to some of the shite we’ve read and heard this week from the media, wankers like Simon Jordan, and Twitter virgins who don’t attend matches themselves. However, I think it completely misses its target and it just smacks of a having a pop at Southampton. A very rare own goal from someone who is usually bang on the money. I’m sure you’ll be looking forward to Tuesday’s follow-up comparing our crowds to Wycombe’s!

Just a little reminder if you bump into a gobby bin dipper anytime,

Citys average league attendance has been higher than Liverpools for the last 11 years,
in 2004 & 2005 3 & 4 years before citys takeover we had a bigger average attendance than Liverpool,
in 53 of the last 87 years (since records began) city have had a bigger crowd at a home game than Liverpool,
Citys 10th highest home attendance is 71364 Liverpools best ever home attendance is 61905,
I know I shouldnt really be bothered but its just nice to put the little shits in there place if they start gobbing off about crowds.
