Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

I wasn’t going to go but I knew it would be a good atmosphere against Leeds and that’s the type of game I like. It turned into a very eventful night for me which is another story but it felt like a real game. I hope Leeds stay up.

Safe standing installed where I sit, first game with it last night. Made a HUGE difference. I'll never sit away from safe standing ever again. Thought the atmosphere was great last night. Leeds fans, as expected, waiting for any let up in sound to start singing about libraries, bless their simple Yorkshire minds.

I’m 53, so I should know better. Two older bald headed loons in the Leeds end giving it the big one, so I had to oblige. ;-)

Seeing the Leeds fans in SL1 spending half the match trying to goad City fans was funny as f*ck. Proper old Skool from the 70’s 80’s and 90’s. Their fanbase really hasn’t moved on.

Decent atmosphere last night but FFS the amount left at the end was pathetic to clap in an exceptional performance. No traffic to speak of either last night to make an excuse of.
I stay to the end but I understand why fans leave early.
Cannot think of a worse ground for getting back into town.
If you have a late train to catch it can be a nightmare.
Bus service my preferred option but traffic horrific and comes to a standstill.
Metro is a joke and cars build up at that junction at Mitchell s pub.
No matter what the result it is the same every game

Back in the seventies was on Victoria Station on a Satutday lunchtime and was astonished how many Leeds fans were travelling over from Lancashire for their match. Some months later was staying in Bradford then fourth division, and going to see City at Leeds . No Leeds fans on the platform, but the platform opposite packed with rags on the way to OT. Think it was 74 75 season great game at Elland Rd 2 2 draw came back twice and a very late equaliser felt like a win . Scary walk to and from the station but lived to tell the tale. Always think of Leeds as one of the big clubs of the English game and as they hate the rags have a soft spot for them these days
The queues of green and white buses with hordes of rabid sheep worriers on board banging on the windows

that walk?

I would give 6 out of 10 for the atmosphere last night. It would have been 8 but for the fire drill with 10 minutes to go. Great to see the Poznań going around much of the ground.

Yes everyone has their own reasons for leaving at different times and that’s all fine but the players deserved the kind of final whistle ovation they received against PSG.

I think a lot of their fans deserted them in the 80s due to the thuggery at the very heart of that club, plus decline after the glory years plus the terrible effects of Thatcherism and deindustrialisation on that city. They would get big home crowds today if they had a bigger ground, and have always had a comparable away support to city.
No they wouldn’t, they had sections of the ground closed off permanently for 10+ years until their promotion season.
