Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

There’s definitely a difference in the way our atmospheres are portrayed compared with other clubs, the scousers in particular. They were trying to push the narrative on BT last night of a magical European night at Anfield but had to give up in the end as everybody could tell it was flat. It’s infuriating really but everybody who was in the stadium on Sunday knows how good it was.

Looks like tonights game has sold out, which considering it is basically a dead rubber is great.
I strongly suspect a weird crowd tonight with absolutely thousands of those studenty foreign types who turn up for Champions League games.

As an aside, given the difficulty in buying tickets for the derby, i was amazed to see a number of those wearing half and half scarves at the derby at the weekend.

yea that struck me to, my lad and i were talking about it saying the same as you 'lots of true blues couldnt get tickets but loads and loads of half and half scarfs everywhere. As we walked up from the blue carpark they must have been about 40 school kids all with half and half scarfs in a big group with i guess their teachers, some where chanting utd utd utd. Than they piled into the City shop
I was surprised to see this for a derby game, wasnt expecting that. Seen it at other games.

And how thankful we should be to those studenty foreign types who turn up for Champions League games. Just going off the number of them that have replaced the long tenured season ticket holders near me for CL games gives quite a good indication of both the growing interest in our great club, and the empty seats there would be if they hadn't replaced said season ticket holders. I know shed loads of true blues who have turned their noses up at the opportunity to get CL tickets in the past so I'm sure glad these guys have taken up the mantle

yep the half and half scarves on sunday !

it will be strange tonight, a lot of people now selling their ticket with the game having a dead rubber feeling ( sounds a bit kinky that ). If we score a goal on 5 mins it will be a subdued celebration and on the concourse banging on the shutters to open the bar... Need to come up with an excuse to leave on 78 mins.

Yup, CL a totally different product for a totally different market - or at least that was what I felt before the PSG home leg, with hundreds of folk I’d never seen before on the concourse… but the atmosphere that night was great. Not a patch on Sunday, of course - and am not expecting much tonight - but glad I’m still young enough to be pleasantly surprised.
