Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

And how thankful we should be to those studenty foreign types who turn up for Champions League games. Just going off the number of them that have replaced the long tenured season ticket holders near me for CL games gives quite a good indication of both the growing interest in our great club, and the empty seats there would be if they hadn't replaced said season ticket holders. I know shed loads of true blues who have turned their noses up at the opportunity to get CL tickets in the past so I'm sure glad these guys have taken up the mantle
Totally agree. I'm not snobby about our fanbase at all. I'd rather the stadium was full of whoever wants to come and I want is to grow and grow.

Yup, CL a totally different product for a totally different market - or at least that was what I felt before the PSG home leg, with hundreds of folk I’d never seen before on the concourse… but the atmosphere that night was great. Not a patch on Sunday, of course - and am not expecting much tonight - but glad I’m still young enough to be pleasantly surprised.
Agreed. It’s akin to the difference between test match and T20 crowds. Maybe we’ll eventually get scantily clad girls dancing on podiums every time someone gets a corner.

You can’t stop progress :-)

There’s definitely a difference in the way our atmospheres are portrayed compared with other clubs, the scousers in particular. They were trying to push the narrative on BT last night of a magical European night at Anfield but had to give up in the end as everybody could tell it was flat. It’s infuriating really but everybody who was in the stadium on Sunday knows how good it was.
Regular fans of all clubs who have seen their team play Liverpool at Anfield know full well that the Anfield atmosphere is over-hyped to fuck. Liverpool fans tend to conveniently ignore all those comments and instead focus on the handful of people within the game who big it up. People like Gary Neville who likes to go on about how on top it is when United go there. Well it would be Gary - it's Liverpool v United ffs. Compare that to Liverpool v virtually every other team and the difference will be stark to say the least. Even our own manager has been guilty of it in the past but Pep needs to realise the difference between an Anfield atmosphere when they're 3-0 up inside half an hour against us in the Champions League and 4-1 up against us in the league game the same season, and games like the 2-2 draw there this season and the 0-0 draw in the 2018-19 season, when it's fair to say that the atmosphere was utter fucking dog shit on both occasions.

I just want a few more who don't sit silently throughout the entire game (barring a goal) and tell others to sit down.

If a few more people just let out their emotions we'd have a great atmosphere every game.

There's no reason why tonight's atmosphere should be different to Sunday, many fans are still riding on the wave of a derby win! Is there anything planned tonight before the game... light show, banners flags etc?

lol did you know my dad ?!!

He spent the whole of our last game at Maine Road v Southampton shouting for the others to sit down lol in the North stand behind the goal !

I doubt whoever is in my seat, my mates seat or my adult lads seat will be making as much racket as we did but you never know.

Mate, it will be entirely different to Sunday because the game is over. There is no "jeapordy". There's no reason for us to self-flagellate when it's quiet in a game like this. It would be entirely different if we were going into the game 2-0 down. That's just football.

I see your point, but on the flip side, at 5-0, a chance to relax and sing some songs and have a party atmosphere...?

There will be a bit of that I'm sure, especially if we get a few goals, but it won't be a patch on Sunday.

However Liverpool at home has the potential to be one of the biggest and loudest night's in the Etihad's history. That one will be absolutely rocking.
