Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

That's bollocks , if it was true we would never have had any great atmospheres, how did we create what we did against Hamburg in the same stadium if it cant be done ?

cheap tickets and large groups of people all going together, which isn’t going to happen that much. Also the game was huge for us, so will naturally create a great atmosphere

surely getting all the singers together would help though

After 18 months it was an absolute delight to see so many fans back and I'm sure the atmosphere did great stuff for the players.

No offence but the fact so many of you are coming out of the woodwork to complain already, after a brilliant performance is disappointing. So what if it wasn't perfect? The most important thing is that there are blues there to support the team one way or another and I'm sure the team feels the love.

And if it really bothers you, try come up with a solution. Can't be that difficult surely, and once it gets put into place then you'll all be happy again.
I reckon most of the moaners on here don't sing at the match

The club ensured the cheapest seats were furthest from the pitch rather than directly behind the goal.

Thought the Spuds fans were shite last week. Especially as it was such a big game for them. But Spuds not singing has got to be a blessing. It's like finger nails down a blackboard when they screech Oh when the Spurs
Yeah, I didn't think Spurs were anything special. And I was directly next to them where I was. The wall behind the goal made noise when they scored and the ground retains its noise better than ours, but I wasn't impressed by it at all.

This attitude is still there, but as we're
So good now it's developed into "fuck you, I don't care how good we are I'm still going home early"...

(Good post by the way).

They had no large terraces at WHL just a couple of biggish paddocks in front of Stands. The shelf was a poor man's Kippax with a stand above it, now they have this large Kop type terrace behind the goal you would expect them to raise the roof. Of course no atmosphere will ever compare to OT or Clanfield according to our fair minded media. Always thought Kop and Stretford end vastly over rated, for noise and passion Geldard end at Leeds loudest and most intimidating for me.

I’ve banged on about this for years. The biggest problem we have is having two singing areas. If both those blocks were together, there would be miles more singing around the ground.
Nothing to do with the stadium configuration. Everything to do with fans not singing. PSG have two singing sections at either end of the pitch and the pitch has a running track. Their atmosphere is excellent.

people can just keep coming up with whatever reason or excuse as they want
its bollocks
its all down to the fans attitude ,and our fans are just not up for it most games.

It is, mate. “Big” songs need to spread around the stadium quickly and tiers prevent that. And believe me when I say that when both singing sections sing at once, which happens lots, it stops any singing spreading. There are lots of occasional singers around the ground who will sing as long as the song starts loudly.

the big mistake the club made was not making the new south stand top tier into “the” singing area. A song started up on the top tier echos better and spreads faster.

the first season it was though
un officially
but we have just gradually become like all the other parts of the ground
the rags every game in level 3 outsing us
sheff utd a few seasons ago out sung the whole ground from ss3

its all about attitude and vocal support
and we just are not arsed anymore
its a simple fact

And non of those reasons are to.do with the stadium design

Stadium design is part of the reason though. The Hamburg game was a one off nearly what 15 years ago now?

yes cheaper tickets would help/ bigger games. But are you honestly saying what we have now is good enough - no home end / split by away fans. Of course it’s a big factor.

if we had 12,000 fans all in one home end, your telling me that wouldnt make a difference? The way the stadium is set up does not help the atmosphere at all. Spurs new stadium has shown the difference a home end makes.

ultra cheap tickets and huge groups of lads isn’t going to happen. The Hamburg game was a complete one off in that regard

We have 3 " home ends " , let's not forget the Kippax was not behind the goal. It's not the stadium it's the current fan demographic of the premier league .

3 home ends?(a kop or a singing end) We’ve got a few blocks separated by away fans.

the demographics have changed a bit, but we can still create a good atmosphere on our day and have more then enough singers. Are the fan demographics of Spurs, Leeds, wolves fans and others that different from ours?. They manage it and all have a great stadium set up.

you aren’t going to get the same demographics as 30 years ago, but most of our ground is still full or our core fan base and if they can be arsed create a great noise. Changing the stadium set up would greatly help that in my opinion. Doing nothing won’t.

I think so yeah. I think the match attending support has changed massively at City.

I’ve banged on about this for years. The biggest problem we have is having two singing areas. If both those blocks were together, there would be miles more singing around the ground.

But has it not always been this way since City’s grounds went all seater. Was the same back at Maine Road when the singing blocks were AA and BB Lower and the block next to the away fans in the North Stand. Not sure what the club can do as it appears to be fans choice to not form one continuous singing end.

I agree the stadium does not help but we have created some great atmospheres in this ground just not consistently enough.

When you’re in the area that creates the atmosphere, it always sounds good when that area is particularly vocal.

SSL1 were good. Then 109-111 were good, with splashes of people dotted about here and there.

The rest of the ground was awful. And, as always, there aren’t enough people in 109-111 and SSL1 to make it sound like it’s a good atmosphere in the whole stadium. Just far too small those areas.

Having a good atmosphere at City sounds like having a good set of away fans in. Good in our small pockets of vocal fans that we have, but the general atmosphere of the Etihad Stadium is poor.

Yesterday, I’d describe the atmosphere across the stadium as ‘not bad’. 4/10

And atmosphere isn’t just about singing, certainly not singing all game. The atmosphere at Palace is poor, they’ve got a little corner where a few hundred band geeks sing all game but the other 95% in their ground are silent.

We had a great atmosphere against Liverpool in January 2019 where we hardly sang any songs all game. We sang at the start, sang after each goal, and sang at the end… but other than that we barely sang at all, but it was just an atmosphere where everyone in the ground was involved in the game.
I don’t expect the whole stadium to sing, but when I see people nearly asleep and not even celebrating a goal really confuses me. Some people around me don’t even react when we’re on a dangerous attack.

It's because we are good. We used to sing when the physio came on. It's normal. Atmosphere is fine.

We can create an atmosphere in there. Hamburg and Liverpool at home about two seasons ago we’re great. You could cut the tension with a knife. For me personally football died the day standing was taken away

When the south stand was extended the club offered a scheme to get the singers together unfortunately the fans didn’t take it up
