Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

Unfortunately you need a supporter ID to purchase and I'm not that desperate to sign up to get one! In fact, you needed to sign up by yesterday at the latest to get one. But your point stands - there's tickets available to buy for Liverpool v Palace tomorrow. Meanwhile, there are just several hundred left for our game against Saints and those are tickets put back up for sale by ST holders and the 2 blocks in SS3 that normally make up the away section.

If we asked the directors of Chelsea, United and Liverpool whether it was better from their perspective to have Pep and City fans fighting each other or not fighting each other, I wonder what they’d say?
I don't think they'd give a shit.

If they haven't sussed out by now that Pep Guardiola is a loose cannon, they never will.

He called the fans out, he deserves all the flak he gets. Sadly, he's so far into his own world, he probably doesn't even realise what he's set off with his stupid comment.

Sounds like another sleepless night for you then.

Great coach but a bit of an odd character tbh.

Peps always had a problem, with some City fans problem ,with the Champions League, hes usually well aware of all the implications of everything he says,im sure he knew his comment would pss lots of people off but he felt it needed saying

Just had a quick look at all the attendances for game week 1 in the champions league ...
1) Liverpool...51,445
2) City...45,000
3) Athletico Madrid ...40.098
4) Barcelona...39,783
5) Chelsea...39,252
So for all the talk about empty seats we actually had the second highest attendance in all Europe , only topped by Liverpool who were playing AC Milan, a far bigger draw than RB Leipzig..
(Admitedly the BBC reported 38,000 , but others reported 45,000 and it looked more like 45,000 to me , even so the 38,000 would have still had us 5th , with virtually no away fans).......
Corrected from my earlier post , where as pointed out , i got the Liverpool attendance wrong ..
So we are second to Liverpool by 6,000 if Leipzig had bought the number of fans AC Milan took to Anfield , with the extra koudos AC Milan brings City would probably have been looking at a full house and top of the list...

FFS One stupid comment by Pep and now we are being made out to be a load of miserable bastards who rarely go and when we do we sit in silence.
I wouldn't mind but it's our own fans doing it.
Bang on. We’ll just have take the obvious song that’s coming our way on the chin.

What I've never understood about the empty seats debate is how simple the real answer is. We've got a smaller fan base than United and Liverpool, are in a much smaller City than London that we share with United, and have the 4th biggest stadium in the league. We don't quite have the "backup" or travelling support which those other teams have, which means if a core of fans don't attend mid-week, which they don't at clubs either, then we don't sell out. We have 10k+ more seats than Chelsea, which means 10k+ more bums on seats for the place to be full.

If United want to brag about how many more fans they've got they're welcome to it. It's a fact. I knew it when I was growing up and everyone at school "supported" United, but half of them couldn't tell me who played for them. Or when I'd travel around Europe or the world and when I told them I lived in Manchester someone would tell me they supported United and I'd tell them I supported the other lot. I've never drawn my sense of identity from City having "more" fans than United because how could I do? It is what it is. We have a loyal fan base, we're a big team like Villa or Sunderland or Wolves or Derby, with a rich, and chequered (ahem) history, in one of the best Cities in the country.

It didn't need saying. I hope he understands that now.

The truth will never get in the way of a good story.

Covid restrictions have limited Barca's capacity and I'm guessing Atletico's too but the general gist of your point is spot on. I did read one Liverpool fan on Twitter a week or so ago saying any Liverpool fan who wanted a ticket for AC Milan would've got one as there were still some left after restricted sale.
