Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

got thrown out on 80 mins in family stand tier 2 for singing, yeah a few songs had swear words in but it’s a FOOTBALL match… never going again!!!!
Isn't the point of the Family Stand that it's supposed to be a an area where parents can take kids and not have them exposed to bad language and stuff? I've never sat in it, but I think I'd have to put myself on a 'best behaviour' notice if I did.

I gues you hope they're reading the context as well as the beeps! Shifty looking dude with something that beeps with something down his leg might get frisked etc. I'm just glad they don't have the dogs like they had at the Warehouse Project on Saturday and had also been introduced at Spurs away. Honestly, I'd been in airports with less checks than at Spurs.
We have dogs for our away fans. They have a perimeter checkpoint at the carpark, then the doggies give 'em a sniff on the way to the turnstiles.

yes i did

with my 15 yo, trying to get songs going but everyone sat there no songs or atmosphere whatsoever even when scored… some fat nobody reported me to steward and a gang of 4 came said got to go…. EMBARRASSING for them and club

ermmm it’s a football match most our songs have swear words in……

Then sit in one of the other three stands, not the stand designed as a safe place for parents to take kids away from swearing, etc.

grow up and i’ll sit where i want thanks and kids in stadiums or at home will hear swear words everyday…. maybe we should sing songs with no swear words mr goody….

City fans have to learn to start enjoying the football again. Tonight was an absolute pleasure apart from reading the mard arses on here at half time.
I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was good in 109 where I was moved to. It was a joy to see the mixture of kids and stars. It's one of the reasons why I love the League Cup. The City fans gave a great reception to their cult player Akinfenwa. He must weigh 20 stone plus but he managed 75 minutes. He's a bit of a legend. All in all a great night capped off by a brilliant finish from Cole Palmer...and my digital phone ticket worked!

There will definitely be more to that story, but god, why do we need a full stand 'safe place' for children? Are they going to spontaneously combust if someone utters a curse-word nearby? It's football, you go to sing and be rowdy, not to play FIFA on a concourse!

If you're that previous about your child, don't take them to a football match...

There's a lot of truth here. We've seen some beautiful football, silly scorelines, more goals than you could dare to imagine, and some fans can still only experience the game through complaint and groans and every game being must win. I dunno how you shake that out of people.

You don't shake it out of them because they won't change. Fuck'em. If that's how they wish to follow football then they are losing out.

True enough. Well as I posted on the post-match thread, I had a lovely time last night. Very little pressure, the game flew by, beautiful night, exactly what I missed when I was trapped in the house for 18 months!

I actually think it is a post pandemic thing. Lots of people are still struggling to get back to normal and many are shattered financially. It would have been nice to get a great welcome back from City with lots of incentives etc to get fans back in the ground but sadly the club has not really delivered...at least off the field. Pep's comments were nothing really but they were the straw that broke the camel's back. I hope we can start to restore some more positivity in the fanbase, starting with a victory at Chelsea.

I couldn’t give a fuck about songs with swearing, nor do I give a fuck about fags and gear in the bogs. That’s because my seat’s in an area of the ground where I know that’s going to happen because I want to be there for the atmosphere and close to the away end.

What I’m not going to do is decide to sit around a bunch of young kids and families and start swearing because I know that’s the one area of the ground that has been allocated to families.

If you want to swear and join in with the banter, fuck off to the other end of the ground and join in with the fun there.

Unfortunately that’s just the way it is mate. Do I agree with it? Not really. Is that the way it is? For now, yes. With that in mind he should respect the families there and pick from the other tens of thousands of seats available.

I'm not really talking about pre or post pandemic attendances, or even match or not match going fans, just a vocal minority of supporters who only seem happy when they're moaning. Whether it's the usual crowd in the match day thread or an old bloke I sat in front of once who didn't say anything for the whole game except slag off David Silva.

Some of the Main Stand moaners from Maine Road have never gone away. To be fair there is always a hard core of people who will never be happy...even if they won the lottery. Slagging off Silva is as extreme as it gets though!

Some think this is s new thing, it really isn't. Main Road was notorious for it. Remember the main stand moaners, it's nothing new. Just shake your head at them smile and enjoy yourself. We are living in a golden era for City fans.
