Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

Any banner pics?

Was bobbins in the ground n’all. Very flat, barely a chant went round in the first half… a bit better second half but still bobbins.

Atléti fans were good and - like Atalanta - such a refreshing change to have a good set of away fans singing all game without a drum ruining it. They well outsung us. Couldn’t hear SSL1 over them hardly all game.

Couldn't hear a single chant from their fans on SL1.

Only time I heard them was when I was leaving the ground. And even then it didn't sound loud.

I was in SSL1 block 113 with my little lad. It was very subdued but probably because we spent most the game shielding ourselves from spit, piss, half eaten pies, lit cigs and anything else they could throw down at us. Fucking animals.

So surprised with the lack of atmosphere. Plenty people trying to get chants started just didn’t get going. First 15 mins should have been electric but as soon as kicked off it just fell silent.
That banner was shite, fair play for doing something but what a boring waste, didn’t even know it said blue moon till I seen pics now, just looked a blue flag.
They really are shit house lizards and will be very satisfying to knock them out but it’s going to be a tough 90 mins over there as their crowd will be the 12th man we should have been tonight.

I thought the atmosphere was ok to start, and they sucked the life out of the ground and the ground became tense. Not what I'd want to watch, but their game plan worked.

Terrible in SS3, completely drowned out by the Madrid fans even though they didn’t fill the stand.

Lots of nerves but better after we got the goal.

Surely it can’t be as bad on Sunday?

Atmosphere was dross. All you get on here is moaning about city putting on lightshows instead of leaving it and letting the fans build the atmosphere, well they did that tonight and there was silence. Continue what you were doing city. The same people go on about moving the away fans, well ss1 and 111 were as quiet as they've ever been at a knockout game without an away section in between.

Atleti fans sang all game, wasn't overly loud as there wasn't many of them there but sang throughout despite watching their team put in a turgid performance with nothing to get excited about.

Let’s be honest the game always has the affect on the atmosphere. A frantic end to end gets the fans up for it. Watching stones and Laporte stand on the edge of atleti’s box passing sideway isn’t gonna get the crowd pumping. Atmosphere was much better second half but again that is cause the game opened up more

I thought the crowd started with the right intentions, it was good for the first 15mins, then frustrations with Atletico's tactics took it's toll. With no space given to our players, there were no opportunities to capitalise on, hence not much to cheer about. Personally, I feel that's when the fans can do their part by encouraging the players to keep going and not get frustrated because the aim of Atletico was exactly that(to frustrate) from minute 1.

Edit: Thinking about it, I suppose that's not a City crowd trait and probably never has been(nor many other top clubs when a game is flat/frustrating), especially when expected to win. It would be nice/a help to the team though. As others have said, Sunday will be a different matter. I can feel the tension building already and both teams will come to play good football.

If you couldn't make out the wording on the banner was Blue Moon, you need glasses.

Sometimes I do get frustrated with some people on here, because no matter what the club does, they get criticised for it. If the club didn't do anything, they'd get criticised for that as well. Let's be honest, the club can't win.

1894 have got 10 new double stick flags. If anyone can be arsed holding one up on Sunday (I won't hold my breath), whilst the regaular 1894 lads wave the large flags, feel free to help. 1894 will be stood on the concourse at the back of 115. Come over and have a chat. It's not hard and you'll only need to hold the double stick flags up for 5 minutes before the start of the game, and then bring them back to the back of 115.

Tomorrow will be a new day. And maybe we'll get a bit more positivity about what the club is trying to do to improve the atmoshere, along with proactive fans, which includes displays.

Good night.:-)

I agree with you here. The first half was a difficult watch, the ball just went side to side and then back for most of the time. Second half much more open and once the goal went in the crowd were more involved and especially when they started fouling left right and centre.

They were noisy but in fairness there was nothing on the pitch for them to get excited about so they had to make their own entertainment. I think we were all a little tense, we needed an early goal.

Really I though they were pretty quiet as European fans on the piss go to be honest wouldn't say they out sang us all the game.
