Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

Regular matchday support has become far too spoilt and now the prices only cater to the middle class who are more likely to leave early. The atmosphere isn't the issue, most of the time it's good, today was an off day. The consistent issue is the early leavers at 75 minutes and onwards. It's embarrassing.

It isn’t the middle class or the matchday fans leaving early they are nearly all regulars.

Crazy isn't it? Good win, great crowd, decent atmosphere but.........my chips were cold and some left early
Some? LOL. Were you actually there? More like 60% by 85 minutes. It's embarrassing. Try to sugar coat it, explain it away, rationalise it, but at the end of the day this is fans fucking off their team leaving early in tens of thousands. Best fans in the world? Not a fucking chance! And as a fan of over 45 years it pains me to say that. Any success we have as a club is 100% down to Sheikh Mansour, Pep and the players and nothing to do with our 'fans' who are in the pub in town or in their car in Stockport before the final whistle blows

Agree 100% BK, from another old timer of 45 years.

Lol

Went to the West Lancs Derby today with Bpool supporting friends and my brother in law. The atmosphere was amazing in a way I've not seen since we left Maine Rd. The level of hatred between the fans seemed deeper than ourselves and the rags. A great game with great support for both teams made me nostalgic for the mad bad old days in the lower divisions.

We’ve always had the same passionate hardcore of about 30-35k, the rest are casual, take it or leave it type fans. It kinda makes sense when you look at the stadium at 80- 85 mins with thousands running to get home. There’s no easy answer to this and I’m not sure what more the owners, pep and players can do to persuade supporters to back the team vocally and that finishing a game is worth getting home a little later.

Do ANY of you say anything? I mean to fans who are getting up and going? I get so incensed I can't help myself with something snide in the direction of someone who is leaving early.

Last season I watched a young kid, just up the row from me, calling out each and every one of the fans who were getting up and leaving early.

So do any of you guys say anything? It's difficult tbh.

In the 60s and early 70s before we migrated to NZ the thought of leaving the ground early never entered my head. I admit I would move closer to one of the exit ways so I could make a quick getaway to catch a bus AFTER the final whistle and the players were leaving the pitch.
