Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

It's too quick that's why. If it was slowed down many more would join in.

That in a nutshell is what is wrong with a lot of these chants. Think Spurs, there is only one chant of theres which really springs to mind and its a slowed down version, easy to sing and allows the whole stadium to join in. Just like Blue Moon does for us, which is comsistently the loudest chant most home matches.

I quite like those songs but they aren’t home stadium songs.

Brilliant away day chants, great in the pubs and on trains planes and automobiles. But they’re the sort of chants that will never take off around big home stadiums.

Not once have I ever heard ‘Empty Seats At Home’ spread around the stadium but it’s like it’s become our main club anthem in the singing section. They’ve got a new one this season n’all with ‘We’ve Got The Best Football Team In The World’… the singing section sang it from the opening kick off for three minutes and then again on about the six minute mark for a minute… hardly anyone in the entire rest of the stadium joined in. And the atmosphere in general was poor in the first half.

As soon as the proper City chants got going second half the whole ground (not everybody in the ground but at least a few dozen even in the quietest blocks) were getting involved.

Also a lot of these chants are not inspiring at all. Some one has just posted a video of the South Stand chanting ‘City’ at Pep and you can envisage how at a corner or when attacking how inspiring this could be. Who could possibly be inspired by chanting about Edin Dzeko who left 6 years ago?

Some chants are best left in the pub and on the concourse and stuck on instagram, fun to sing, but once your in the ground the point of singing is to inspire your team.

Chelsea fans were sh*te today against Arsenal in the London derby.
Villa fans were good today against United.
Spurs fans were good and bad today against Liverpool.
There is no one fits all to (creating) a good atmosphere.

The Rome derby between Roma and Lazio today was very good.
Both sets of fans sang throughout the match. Especially the Roma fans. The whole stadium. At the final whistle the Lazio team including the subs went over to the Curva North housing 18,000 Lazio fans and celebrated the 0-1 win against Roma with them.

Spot on Frank. Pointless and does nothing to lift team.
