Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

i think the people against a drum shout out more than the people for a drum, with some it does seem to be an instant no without any thought process. A bit like when on UCL nights i see a DJ in the corner of the stadium giving it some with their decks, straight away its why and what a waste of money.

Palace and wolves are regular users of a drum, not sure if newcastle do from time to time. What you find is the lower down the league you go and non league, you will find a lot more drums.

wish we would just sing more and for longer, not difficult

Just bring a drum and don't tell anyone, no ones going risk getting a life ban for assaulting someone over a drum

I’m against the insidious cheese creep at matches but I’m middle aged. I imagine that virtually all the kids at the game love the DJ and the light display and the torch flashing and the HT “fun” so I’m guessing they’d probably love a drum as well. In 20 yrs time they’ll be the ones driving the atmosphere and a drummer will probably be as integral to their match day experience as foul mouthed anti utd chants are to ours.

Some of the best atmospheres towards the end of the Maine Road days were when the Kippax and North Stand were having a friendly pop at each other.

'Small stand in Maine Rd, you're just a small stand in Maine Rd'.

As for the drummer, not my cup of tea but long as I'm not in the same stand I could probably cope

I’m sorry to hear that.

But nobody is going to stop going because of a drum located in a possible new *singing section* in the NS, if and when it’s expanded.

There are also different kinds of drums that create different drum sounds. Yes there are drums you can bash the hell out of that will reverberate around the ground and annoy people. There are also drums that are much quieter, but can still be heard within the singing section.

Apologies for being a stuck record on this matter, but you don’t have to beat a drum to death to get the best out of it. If it’s used ‘PROPERLY‘, sparingly and in unison with chants, it can be a great asset and it can improve the chants and the atmosphere inside the ground.
Not for me, loathe orchastrated fan chants, especially these German ones, same boring beat for 90 mins. The atmosphere is generated by the appreciation of the players and their efforts, the English way.

i first went to footy games in the late 70s, every decade how fans make noise and create atmosphere changes ( apart from what you cant beat which is hand clapping and singing ). Every decade fans drop off with something, a new idea comes in. So unless we add new ideas / trends to making a noise then nothing replaces what we stop doing. Eventually we are all stood there in silence.

if every singer moves in to the north stand when the extension is done and we work with the club to create even more of a dedicated singing area, it will be loud as ****. We wouldnt need a drum or capo.

im not keen at all on the cheese / DJ etc. But moving forward with some good ideas has to be.

I joined in with the thread about young fans with mobile phone torches, it was young fans having a good time. Dont see the problem with fan involvement, better than an empty seat with fans sloping off
