Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

I got a survey from the club today which asked about atmos and other things. As I said last night, I didn't think it was terrible.

We have got some work to do nonetheless. Don't let that one guy who joins with the SS sing alone. Back him up. When he runs out of puff sing the next line. We do need to bear in mind the positive effect a big atmosphere and a full house has on our wonderful boys and manager. That isn't on tourists - it's on us, the loyal and local who make up the overwhelming majority of the crowd and always have.

But then again, expecting English PL main stand home crowds to behave like Latin American Ultras in a slow, nervy game on a Wednesday night after work is not realistic. Yes, many of us could make more effort to come out of our shells, but last night wasn't the worst and the club could make a difference by doing some very simple things it can't/won't/is yet to do - ie give thought to acoustics, bring in more safe standing, not take the piss with ticket prices, bring in another singing section, lobby Metrolink to lay on more trams which might discourage some early leavers, recognise that the core of your fanbase isn't getting any younger and that you need to do more to make the game accessible to future generations of loyal and local.

Want more of a vocal fanbase? Do more to grow a more vocal fanbase. Won't happen while season tickets are dead men's shoes and matchday tickets are £70. Love Pep but at the end of the day he is a hands on figure at City. We all know the things people at the coalface of an organisation think are important and desirable are not necessarily what the strategic guys think are important and desirable.

Well said

Noticed how much the atmosphere gets going when songs start in SS3 rather than SS1.

i think where ever you sit / stand particularly SS3 and SS1 you think that is the way. Being in SS1 songs start better from that area, just shows how difficult it is for the two areas to sing together. "bluemoon" is one of the only songs where it feels as though the whole stadium gets going.

Can you hear the away fans that are next to us in lower SS ? We cant hear the away fans in SS3.

You could hear the away fans loud and clear in SS3 last night, well the first half especially they did quieten down somewhat.

as much as i have applauded the atmosphere yesterday I am glad you mentioned the huge amount of fans leaving early Three nil win and the title up for grabs, what more incentive is there to stay until the end.

Home to arsenal & bayern fans came in early and stayed in late, last night was in late leave early. What was the rush to go home ?
Beautiful wife, adorable kids, happy home ?

It's a debate that will run and run on here and elsewhere (and there have been some massive threads on it over the years) the simple reason people leave early is the horrendous traffic post match, I don't leave early and never have but last night i got caught up in traffic near town,

86 minutes,

Traffic excuse is a complete nonsense. We usually wait until Haaland has finished his lap of applause and the road home is clear as you like. The simple fact is, for most people, there is no reason to leave early. For me the dictionary gives the best reasoning.

Supporter - "someone who supports [to agree with and give encouragement to someone or something because you want him, her, or it to succeed]"

Spectator - "a person who looks on or watches; onlooker; observer"

We have too many of the latter, but as they say 'they pays their money they can do what they damn well please'. It's just that they don't get the concept of what a true supporter actually is.

I left at the whistle got to get the bus because if I miss it im fucked and not getting home until midnight if that’s ok with you! Did anyone know what was going to happen at the end? Did they fuck. Fucking off before the end I don’t like but once the final whistle has gone sorry but I’m off.
Me too. Nearly always leave on the whistle especially for night matches. I’m sure the players will get over me not being there to applaud them off the pitch.
I like to get home in time to watch the post match coverage on TV and see the goals again.

Welcome to the internet. I knew this would happen. Ever since my moonfruit website, it has been downhill.

I dislike the 70th minute when the lights pn phones come out, but I appreciate the joy and satisfaction it must bring a few people. Infighting about X, Y and Z is all fair enough, and I don't get why anyone pays to see 80 minutes of football, but togetherness matters much more. We can't become THAT LOT or THE SHOWER...

C.T.I.D.
What were the camera lights for ?
