Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

Where I was in SS3 was really good. Some of those that don't really sing were even joining in.

First half everybody was a bit nervous, especially the way West Ham set out. The atmosphere reflected that. I'm sure the atmosphere against Arsenal would have been great regardless but it was also assisted by KDB scoring so early and I don't think that should be understated.

Haaland even mentioned they had 10 men behind the ball in his interview and they would have snatched your hand off for a point before kick off. They were even time wasting two nil down on a damage limitation job. Everybody inside the stadium is concerned we might get hit with a sucker punch like Everton or Forest at such a critical part of the season. It's human nature.

Second half was one of the better atmospheres of the season. They even tried to get the old 'We love you City we do' going but unfortunately that didn't catch on and I haven't heard that in ages.

I have done games elsewhere this season and some areas are like a morgue. I might be in the East Stand for Chelsea and it was poor in there last time I went. If people aren't happy with the atmosphere where they are they should relocate elsewhere.

Those commenting about the atmosphere that don't go to games shouldn't really be on this thread if they're being negative. I watched Arsenal at home on the tv and wasn't that bowled over by it but I know it was great from people that were there and the likes of TalkSport even mentioning it. Some guy I know in the Family Stand said it was even bouncing in there. I was sceptical our stadium mics are turned down but now I believe it or at the very least assume they're located poorly.

I’m adamant there’s something up with the mics.

Every time I watch a game back where it’s been bouncing in the Etihad, it sounds average on the coverage. Sounds like the mice are outside the stadium and the fans are dead far away from them.

City now have more singers across 109-110, SSL1 and ESL3 than United do in their 1958 singing section. But that tiny chunk above the tunnel at Old Trafford always sounds loud and clear on tele yet you go to Old Trafford and they just sound like a murmur in the corner.

Poor acoustics for sure. I rarely hear SS3 from SS1 even though I know you're singing up there. Every once in a while though, a chant cascades down from there and we do hear it. Same with 110-111 corner - we don't always hear them and they don't always hear us.

Also, one thing I've noticed from SS1 is that when we get a chant going that does spread round the stadium, it takes a while to get to 110-111 but from there it spreads very quickly across the East Stand, Family Stand, and beyond. Stand Up For The Champions last night is a good example. It's clear from that that the acoustics are better in 110-111 than they are in 114-115-116-117
Yeah I’ve always said that.

I sit in 105 and the atmosphere has been much worse there since SSL1 became the singing section. When the singing section was unofficially in 109-111, the noise used to spread down ESL1 to us and there’d be a lot more singing.

I can’t wait to unite the lot of us. All singers in one tier in NSL2!

Microphones are all around the pitch to pick up effects on and off the pitch and they're turned up down or off depending on what's happening. If we're singing they turn them down. If the language gets a bit industrial, same thing. That's at all grounds except for the Dippers where they turn all the mics up for the whole game coz the atmosphere is so shit and why YNWA always sounds loud and why Tyler is always apologising for the foul mouthed scousers.
Yeah it’s never live on tele, the feed is always seconds behind and if anything they don’t like is shouted or sung, they turn it down.

United fans are always moaning that their ‘Glazers Out’ chanting is turned down.

I think the Etihad is permanently left on the lowest volume the TV companies can get away with… yet turn it over to Arabic coverage/commentary and it’s like it is in the stadium.

Yep, I'm beginning to concur. Initially I thought it was some far fetched excuse that people were using as they can't accept any criticism of their beloved club. I honestly went on the thread last night thinking everybody would be praising the atmosphere. It has been FAR worse than that this year.

On the whole I think it's been rather good this season. Brighton playing quite well here against the rags and all I'm hearing are cheers and can't hear the away fans at all. Need to give ourselves a break.

Sat in my usual place on the front row of 211 last night and thought the atmosphere was decent . Even during the first half .

You’ll be too busy scoffing prawn canapés and quaffing Veuve Clicquot to bother about singing - you’d get indigestion

The guard of honour was something I’d expect to see in the Bundesliga: manufactured bollocks. Guards of honour are (rightly) reserved for teams / people that win things. If/ when Erling picks up a trophy , then we can have all the tunnel shite we had tonight. Reminded me of when Klopp made Liverpool do that bowing / holding hands shite he’d been used to doing at Dortmund. They’d got a last minute equaliser at home to Bournemouth; Milner standing perplexed wondering why they were doing it. Same for me tonight. I’ll cheer him if / when we win something. And I also hate the fact the pre premier league records seem to be totally forgotten. If he’d beaten Dixie Dean’s record, fair fucks. He’s only just over half way. Embarrassing.
Embarrassing post.

I can. People just like to have a moan about something. (There’s a surprise) instead of backing the manager and all his players for wanting to give arguably the best player on the planet a guard of honour in our title run in, in a huge game which lacked energy in huge parts. But no people want to sit on here and moan about it. I despair sometimes. People must either be trolling or seriously need to have a word with themselves at this point.

embarrassing post.
Blue moan it is becoming more and more. It wasn't prearranged, Pep put it together after the whistle. Just enjoy the times we're having right now instead of lurking waiting to stick the boot in. Or are you another shady rag hanging around because you sad fuckers have got fuck all to celebrate.
