Etihad atmosphere

I usually defend the atmosphere but on Saturday it was the worst i have heard in a while. It may have been nerves due to a couple of bad results but it was very flat. I thought the so called singing section was mute and i am just to the left of them, even when the stand at the side sang ''South stand south stand give us a song!'' there was hardly a peep to be heard.

I was in the SouthStand and didn't hear that corner sing once. A lot of it depends on where you sit/stand.

The thing I find annoying is the lack of involvement from the rest of the ground. As an 'atmosphere enthusiast' I'm more interested in songs spreading than most people, but I hate it when people say things like 'oh the singing section is a joke, it's not loud blah blah blah...' when they are sat in the Bellend contributing nothing!

There was a few spasmodic songs dotted around but it was all very half hearted and faded out. You are right about the rest of the ground not joining in or rarely. At Maine Road songs often spread all over the ground, then when one area died down the other would spark it up again,i had some great fun there on days like that. The singing section now it has been established need to do more. At Palace they only seem to have that small section by the corner of the goal but they keep the racket going all game.It may get a bit annoying but at least an effort is being made and it becomes infectious.

The "signing section", which remember is a club branding not something they've claimed themselves, consists of maybe 3,000 people at most (if you include 110-119). In a stadium of 54,500 it is ridiculous to expect those people alone to provide the atmosphere, especially when a good number in those sections are non-singers. SSL3/2 can be loud at times, especially when away fans bring their whole allocation, as can a bigger portion of EL1 in the big games. But the rest of the stadium needs to contribute, I used to be in 301 and the number of people who sat in silence all game and then moaned about the atmosphere was ridiculous

I'd be thankful these kids are there to make the place look full. You say let someone else have their seat, it's not like we are packed to the rafters is it? Them kids aren't stopping anyone else going.

if the dad/ mum know that they aint going to the game, they could let the club have them, and maybe sell them to someone else

first time in the 114 tonight and thought the atmosphere was really good, lots of continuous singing especially from the people at the back. the flags were impressive. i like the songs that were trying to be bring back, like city til i die and ' you are my city' these are the songs more people were joining in with. get these going again !, love the willy give us a wave songs aha and the sort of encorougment to 111 to get behind the team, it worked when everyone was singing together.

the criticism if any is that there aren't enough people at the front of the block singing it seems to mostly be coming from the back and the rest of the south stand need to get singing

Yeah pretty good tonight. Bottom line is, if you want atmosphere, make it. Too many sit on their backsides, arms folded, then complain about the lack of it afterwards.

They are though, it's ridiculous having the family stand behind the goal because most of the time it's empty and kids sit on their phones. It should be another singing section, move the family stand up to east stand level 3 or Colin bell level 3.

But that's the point whats the point in returning them to the club and they go unused, would you rather bodies or moan if children are a bit bored. It is the family stand.

The people who choose to go in the singing areas do it to spend 90 plus minutes arguing with the away fans. If City set up one in the north stand no one would move as there will be no away fans to occupy them all game.
