Etihad atmosphere

Here's a picture I took at Anfield towards the end of the match.

Yes their corporate fans had started leaving, either for more hospitality, or making their way home. But the rest of The Liverpool fans stayed until the final whistle. You can just make out the corner of the KOP.

TBH, today was a lot better than it has been. I think Pep's message about fans staying until the end of the match and supporting the team is getting across.

Saying that, there were fans in East stand lower who were leaving with 10 minutes to go. They weren't going to the toilet.

I'm talking about the whole package. The club should have set up the new tier and aggressively pushed it as the 'end'. It might have taken a year or two to really happen but if songs were being started up there regularly, more and more people would want to be part of it. If songs all started in one place they would spread quicker and there would be more singing around the ground.

There is another problem and i'm not sure if anyone has noticed. Around me there are several seats that are quite obviously given to guests. Who knows from where or by who, but they aren't die hard fans that's for sure.

I know what you mean but to me that isn't the issue. You will never get 54,000 people singing but you might get 20-30,000 at a big big moment.

The atmosphere has always been fairly poor at the Etihad, even when we were shite, apart from the biggest games.

I was embarrassed at midway through the first half when the stand up if love city hardly got past the family stand - and yes I was (what seemed) the sole person who stood up in the Colin Bell stand....

Excuse me but the Colin Bell Lower stood almost to a man/woman!! I know because I was in that section and when we stood on our row I looked around and behind me and nearly everyone was standing!

Nice one Eccles. Another embarrassed fan sussed by match attending blues

Now this is just an observation but when we played Blue Moon just before the match began, when the players were shaking hands etc. the atmosphere was a lot better. We stood and waved our scarves in the time honoured fashion and we sang along with it and that seemed to get some atmosphere going. Why did this stop does anyone know?

I agree and it was at Maine Road as well. The atmosphere at Anfield the other night was awful. It isn't just City. It seems to be just an issue on this forum, which i think is creating a stigma. Should just be left alone.

Agreed, would say that Goodison and Selhurst to name two have decent atmospheres most games.
Spurs have a really good atmosphere. Watford Swansea Chelsea all have decent atmospheres. Sunderland even when they're terrible make more noise than we do. West Ham were good at the Boleyn.
