Etihad atmosphere

slagged the "LOCALS" off enough yet?

Depends if you consider Moss Side local too, then?

It's a topic we can't shy away from, we are the champions of England, playing the best football this country has ever seen and yet, we seem to regularly have a larger proportion of stay-aways.

It was the final home game of the season and both my dad and brother weren't bothered, either.

Tickets that weren't taken up. That's an issue for both the club and our support. Greater Manchester has a population of two million?

I would rather Mancunians who can't afford to go were given the tickets for a fiver if there was enough prior warning from season-ticket holders that they can't or don't want to attend.

Dunno about this - for certain games, maybe, such as Watford on a Tuesday night in early January this season. There were loads of tickets put up on the ticket exchange by SC holders that didn't shift. However, for last night's game, when I checked the planner yesterday there were only single seats showing in all but a few blocks. So to turn up last night, and see batches of empties in all areas of the stadium would suggest that a lot of non-attending SC holders didn't even bother putting their seats up for sale on the exchange. Let's also remember that a week or so ago, Brighton returned the 3rd tier of the away section - perhaps nearly 1500 tickets - which went back on sale to City fans, and from what I could see all of them shifted no problem. That would suggest to me that more non-SC holders would've attended last night if those chunks of empties were available to buy on the planner. Most fans will attend with mates or family members so to not see any decent availability of seats together aside from a few pairs here an there would've put many off buying a ticket.

At this stage of this season most people have prob used their allowance of 6 on the exchange!

That never crossed my mind as I've never needed to put mine up on the exchange! I do still think that some fans simply can't be bothered putting their seats on the exchange and it baffles me because it's a no-lose situation - it doesn't cost anything to do it, and if it sells then it's money off next year's season ticket.

I've never put my ticket on the seat exchange and I miss maybe 4-5 games a season. I don't even know how to do it to be honest. I try to give mine away when I can but often it's last minute if I can't make it.

On the issue of non-attendant SC holders; can I say a word of support for the, er.. supporter's clubs? They, or at least ours, does a really good job of recirculating season cards throughout the members. Perhaps those who can, should join their local supporters club and 'pool' their resources, helping to ensure that empty seats can be filled. On the same topic; Some of these out-of-towners or 'tourists' have been travelling hundreds of miles every home game in support of City for over 40 years. Hats off to them!

Good points by TH and DD. Beren trying to decide what my excuse is for missing a few games I could have attended this season but it's difficult. It's not self-entitlement (I always expect the worse after 42 years a season tkt holder), I just don't enjoy the "match day experience" like I used to when when the club weren't trying to make us have one. Yes the facilities and the bars are great but please please cut out the cheesy crap. It's like being kettled into a Jehovah's Witness party with Russell Howard the enterrtainment and Davina Mccall compering. On the pitch - couldn't be much better. A privilege to watch.

Season tickets were at one time for fans who didn't want to miss a game, times have changed they are now bought by customers who have the right to attend and leave early when ever they want.
Maybe the loyal 33,000 have earned our current success but perhaps it's come too easy for the others.

I've noticed that too, plenty of Scots around the ground these days (hopefully they're of a Rangers persuasion and not those other scumbags).

Did anyone see Sky interviewing people outside the Etihad before the match re Yaya? It was interesting to hear a few non-Mancunian voices i.e. at least one Irish and even a Japanese chap who'd travelled all the way apparently just to see Yaya's last match.

Seriously? You must of missed the demolition job Rangers did in 2008 to the city, don’t recall any grief the night Celtic came down...
