Etihad atmosphere

your ok if we have ultras group though ? like in italy.
You just need to get the apathetic to join in. That's the only problem. They join in when others do around them, but the others around them only join in when the leaders in the block start, but the leaders in the block only start when the singing section are loud and aren't singing at 100mph like it's a race and then if the singing section aren't at it, nothing gets going.

Cheers, just noticed that, didn't pick it up just listening on my phone first time.

But look at the others; great, continuous, noisy atmospheres with no drum. Sampdoria fans are immense!

No drum, but they are extremely organized.

Tim Parks (an English journalist who's lived his entire adult life in Italy) wrote a book (A Season With Verona) about following his local team home and away for a season.
If I remember correctly the home fans had designated titles / roles, such as capo, and they all seemed very much more up for it than us English.

I'd highly recommend this book by the way, think I might dig out my copy and make a start on the coach to West Brom tomorrow.

I think the aging fan base is the main reason and the lack of physicality in the game now? How often do you see really bad fouls that get the crowd going nowadays? Constant time wasting, whistle happy refs, the cheesy shit before during and after the game.

Personally as I get older I want to sing less so I'm sure that applies to a fair amount of the older fans too.

Atmosphere doesn't overly worry me anyway.

Well I'm 54 in January, and can be heard giving it what for, often resulting in a headache and sore throat for days afterwards.....!

Wouldnt it be amazing to make the etihad a wall of noise? I mean, its all well and good blaming the kids and tourists but they either don't know the songs or cant sing the sweary ones.

A+E fellini haha, in 115 for barca game for first time, will be adding my 47 yr old lungs to what I'm hoping will be a bouncing atmosphere, if it's not we really do have problems

Age old argument.

Unlike other fans, Us blues cant sing and create a consistent atmosphere through the game unless we wind up the away fans so the away fans can't be moved. Apparently that's the reason they won't that and the old bill.

Simples

Strange thing is the Millwall game were there fans were banned was one of the best atmospheres at Maine Road since the Kippax was turned all seater

It can be done, take the hamburg match for example, OK it was a fiver and quid for kids but a good 90% of the ground was singing constantly, whether that's cause we were 3-1 down from the first leg and quickly went 1 down at home who knows but it can be done. Not as many prawn sandwichers then though as only just been taken over, but I'm sure it can be done!!
