Etihad atmosphere

Up in CB3 tonight. Thought South Stand were great - real credit to all of you

Until we went 3-1 up there were some absolute miserable gits around me - seemed to me it was more important to them to slag off individuals (Sterling, Stones, Ottamendi, Pep) than to support the team. I don't think they were "tourists" but as they are so loud mouthed they succeed far more at dampening the spirit than any quiet tourist.

Yes. I'm in SS1 and the amount of moaning tossers in there is unreal. Against Southampton the guy in front of me gave dog's abuse to Sterling for 90 minutes, non stop. I genuinely don't understand why he goes to the game...he gets absolutely no enjoyment from it.

But other than merely manifesting his own clearly deep seated anger issues, that type of moaning and negativity is infectious.

I'm not suggesting fans can't groan or grumble in the immediacy of something going wrong, that is human nature. But to give a 90 minute soliloquy of misery helps no one. The team needs support. That's our job.

Your second paragraph, in particular, has nailed it.

Since you're in the USA could you please sort this ridiculous Donald Trump issue out as I would like to see City winning the CL before the orange Hitler has time to unleash a nuclear holocaust.

Thanks in advance.

Working on the orange menace right now Pamela...;)

What last night showed is that we can work up an atmosphere, but it's at its best when the football is competitive and when the team are playing well - it probably helps on the occasions when we feel like we are underdogs. Last night the atmosphere was OK to begin with - struggled once Barcelona scored as we had that that "Oh no, here we go again" feeling and then ramped up as the team ramped up the pressure and we could start to see Barcelona's vulnerability.

But we struggle with favourites status - and no doubt on Saturday we will revert to waiting to be entertained.

As to filling the ground before kick-off it would be great. But there are problems - the City Centre struggles to cope with football traffic arriving whilst others are going home. I had lots of time yesterday having been able to travel in the afternoon (I no longer live in Manchester), yet still found myself stuck for 20 minutes 100 yards from where I wanted to park - people were blocking up junctions and little was moving. The taxi's from Piccadilly were running well but the Metrolink queue was out the door, no doubt that delayed people - we opted for taxi. And whilst I'm not bothered about having a drink at the match, others are and on European nights that means you have to drink outside. I do want to eat but the queues were awful at usual chippy - opted for a short queue at one of the perimeter vans and wished I hadn't. Some people may have the option of getting there in plenty of time - I did on this occasion - but other time work commitments means the early start is difficult and from whatever direction we are coming we all know how quickly the traffic system can become bogged down - in my case it's the M6. And of course European nights do bring lots of tourists - that means they don't have the well-worn paths that regulars know, get confused (as one did last night) by food outlets that don't take cards, don't now how to operate the gates and hence we all end up later and the ground struggles to fill up ready for the kick off.

Having said all that - last nights was one of the great atmospheres at the Etihad and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

atmosphere 2nd half was amazing!!! need to keep that up as the place was bouncing! took my 7 year old to his first game and he couldn't believe the noise and loved the singing! also think it makes a massive difference when the players walked around the stadium to applaud all sides as well. only negative that my son commented on was that he couldn't believe that people were leaving 10 mins before the end when we were beating Barcelona!!

Always baffles me.

At West Brom there were two blokes standing behind us who moaned throughout, which bizarrely peaked when we were 3-0 up! My mate even asked them straight what the hell was wrong with them.

I always seem to be sat in front of these people, and the weird thing is that they're usually in their 40s and 50s - that is to say, they're old enough to remember when we were a terrible side and should be appreciating what we have now more than anyone.

At least not as many as usual left

Said it on here already atomosphere used to be better because we were underdogs.

Tuesday was a perfect example of that. Will be as you were vs Middlesborough

I don't know what everyone thought of the atmosphere today but me and a couple of others at the back of Block 317 tried to get the atmosphere going as always but people just don't try to join in.
