Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium Development and Collar Site (cont

was taken after 1.30pm as I can't see my car parked outside the Commonwealth Suite entrance (next to a grey Bentley reg V8 ANG - anyone know who's that is?)

What are the differences between carrington and our new facilities? From looking at the aerial shots, the only difference is that it's got an indoor pitch and probably a few extra pitches, including a stadium. The indoor training facilities don't look much bigger than carrington. It will look great when it's finished but will it make much of a difference?

Well the fact that City own this one is nice.

The academy looks absolutely miles off being finished. I'd be surprised of we were in it this year going off recent pics and if we are we'll be using certain sections while work carries on around them.

1st team due to move in during the November international break

New development has been widely described as one of the best training facilitys in the world. don't think carrington falls Into that bracket somehow.

Idea

Could be linked in with the Velodrome/Team Sky and Etihad - The Etihad Sky Train.

The route could span around the station, Manchester Academy, Etihad Campus, Clayton, Bank Street/Velodrome/BMX centre, Phillips Park, the canalside, the car parks, Bradford Road, the national squash centre, Cambrian Street, Ashton New Road, Grey Mare Lane etc...

It'd be a great feature for tours, the whole site for sightseeing, disability access and modern/futuristic etc. Hell why not even rival Metrolink!

Too much railroad tycoon as a kid? Sorry.

The plans for the original Metro (early seventies) started with a choice between a monorail above the track, below the track or a surface tram which of course is what we ended up with. Part of the reason for the choice was having to provide access at every stop from street level up to the track which would involve major work at every stop, restricting pavement and road size, combined with the towers supporting the track down the middle of the route. The laws regarding access for disabled people would mean lifts at every stop, very expensive given the number of stops.

Methinks Acton28 has ideas above his station.
