Never mind the temporary fence, what about the horrible brick wall along the front?

This company http://instagram.com/clothsurgeon posted this, nothing new, but the building name is visible:

One thing a I noticed whilst trawling http://etihadstadiumgram.tumblr.com/ is the popularity of the club with fans from abroad. Some a bit concerning though..."Finally saw Xabi Alonso".. but most are supporting the club, spending money in the club shop etc. Progress in terms of commerical appeal.

I personally wouldn't get too hopeful about any Collar site or indeed MCFC related announcements pre-Xmas.

It seems to me that the statement was carefully and specifically worded to big up the partnership between Abu Dhabi and Manchester not MCFC and MCC

My money would be on a call-centre or similar with a few hundred jobs for local people or perhaps further inward investment in property around the City, perhaps the airport development.

I would dearly like it to be City related and Collar Site specific but am not holding my breath on that :-(
Whether or not it is "MCFC related" directly or not, the link is the important thing, because any further investment in East Manchester, is "MCFC related", because without MCFC its doubtful there would be any investment. For me any further investment is important, as it just strengthens the ties between the club, Manchester, and Abu Dhabi, and that can't be a bad thing.

Its far better than "creating" a few more shares to sell, just so that you have some cash to do your christmas shopping, like some other near Manchester club.

Looking forward to hear whatever announcement is made, as their commitment to Manchester, is further commitment to MCFC.

I agree with you and am enjoying every announcement where AD and MCR become closer.

What comes to mind for me is a conversation with a couple of reds who, when I made the point that united should not really parade trophies in Manchester, said "If Manchester Council had to choose which team to get close to it would always be united, City aren't important enough. Get used to it."

I wonder what they think now ;-)

City had potential to be a very investable club for a while but Manchester too has had potential to be a very investable city for a good while. I think the Sheikh and his companies will have pinpointed Manchester for investment before he thought about taking over City but when the opportunity arose to get involved with us he jumped at the chance because it was a way to get his foot in the door with the city. With the vast amount of space we have, even in inner-city Manchester, around the city to build on and earn money from there may well be quite a lot of things going on with Abu Dhabi (and many other investors) in the coming decades.

Manchester has made the top 40 list for most invested in cities in the world, recently. I think that's only going to grow. I think HS2 is a shame for the city and the North in general because i think it's there to take our talent South, out of the city to work in London. I think High Speed should have had Manchester as a central base with links to Liverpool Sheffield and Leeds, instead of to that bloody London, but that's not going to happen for decades. But even so i think Manchester is only going to break the top 25 most invested cities in the world in the coming years. Exciting times!
So it was Manchester he wanted, and City just happened to be there

I've said it many times that SM probably cannot blieve his luck in all this.

The club with a stadium and land was amazing, but to have perhaps the best organised and commercially aware and motivated council as MCC is was a godsend.

I firmly believe that much of what is happening is as much because of the council as it is because of SM. A partnership made in heaven IMHO.

As others have stated, I also think the announcement will be about Manchester Life.

Interesting read.(PDF) Especially City's financial investment in the Beswick Community hub.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

maybe someone can help me with this (as its a stadium redevelopment question) ...

if Sheikh Mansour owns ADUG and is Chairman of IPIC who are funding the redevelopment of Real Madrid's Bernabeu Stadium in exchange of naming rights, is there a conflict of interest in the eyes of the asswipes at UEFA?

UEFA are looking into it as we speak, the outcome will be Sheik Mansour being told he can only have one club, and that will obviously be Real.

At least that's what the rags are hoping.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Only conflict of interest would be if he benefited in some way from their performance on the pitch
