'The Treasury's contribution to Manchester's new Factory theatre will be £78m, the counci lhas just confirmed'

Is anyone else going to CFA on Monday night?

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Jamie Jackson, the Guardian's so-called "Manchester football correspondent" must have had the CFA tour. He's gushing in his praise on his twitter feed, managing to find the time to tweet this, on his otherwise united dominated time-line...

They should have taken him around the back and drowned the **** in one of the septic tanks.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

What City need is for a player to come through who gets a chance in the 1st team and makes it.

Chelsea and MCFC have invested a lot of money in their academies and I can't think of any player who has come through. And why would a manager like Pellegrini who are under huge pressure to win, risk selecting these players. Even the most outrageously gifted young players need game after game, and the trust of their manager and the knowledge and belief that they don't just have one or two games to make an impression. Teams like Southampton have an advantage in the development of young players because they can bring these players through with less pressure and expectation.

Imagine City playing young players now in their team. Lose a game, and there'd be people screaming.

If I was a young player who I'd think twice about going to City because you need opportunities to play. It's not happening at City at the moment. Until it does, the Academy will be a white elephant

Why ,is something going to be happening then?

The official opening is Monday but during the day.

Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Read a post on the Sunderland forum who had visited the CFA in a work capacity and was gushing with praise, the interesting thing he said, more in passing really, that he had been told that City had purchased the Asda site....

Pressure is on to play players like Milner or they'll walk. And to win every game. League Cup is about the only opportunities the City academy players will get, and that's precarious.

Chelsea have been winning everything at Academy level. They are always in the FA Youth Cup Final. They've been targeting young players for years and got into trouble for it. Remember Kakuta? But which clubs are known for bringing players through? Southampton. Villa. These clubs don't have huge resources and expectations.
